the separator allows you to feed a dual tuner receiver with only one line running out of your dpp44 switch.
here is the idea --
with the dish1000+ you'll have four LNBs -- one for each of the satellites you see (110, 118.75, 119, 129). so you'll have four feeds leaving the satellite dish and each will go into the dpp44 switch. the switch will combine the signals from the four lnbs so that each of its four outputs can receive programming from all four satellites.

I live just south of the Bowling Green DMA, in Logan County and qualify for the Nashville HD locals. I have two dish 500, one aimed at 110, 119 and another aimed at 129.
TP13 on 129 signal strength is 95.

I "moved" from Shreveport, LA to Nashville, TN locals on Saturday with no problems whatsoever. I got all the information needed from this site...pay attention to what digiblur, Iceburg and others are saying.
I live in southwest Arkansas...but our locals come from Shreveport, about 60 miles away. The Shreveport locals are only SD...I have an OTA (Channel Master 4228) for the HD feeds from Shreveport (only 3 of the 4 majors in HD so far...no NBC yet).
While watching the first football game in that terrible storm Saturday, I kept losing my OTA feed due to the cloud cover. So, I kept having to switch back to the game in SD until I could get reception back on my OTA. After a few times doing this, I got frustrated. So, the three CONUS markets in my time zone http://www.lyngsat.com/packages/dish129.html are Nashville, Kansas City, and Chicago. And, I kinda like Nashville...so, I did a search for realtors in Nashville. Found a house for sale, got the address, and punched it in https://customersupport.dishnetwork.com/customernetqual/prepAddress.do to ensure it was a good address. Then, I called Dish, told them I had moved my equipment for a few months to Nashville, but that my billing address would remain the same. In less than 5 minutes I had the game in HD from Nashville...no problem.
After all this, I was concerned about losing my programming info for the OTA feeds...after reading some of the replys on here concerning this. But, I didn't lose them at all. Now, I have the Shreveport HD locals OTA and the Nashville, TN HD locals...with programming guide for both. So, I am a really happy camper right now.

How is the telephone audit handled, since the boxes will be calling in on the same number? Is the not a problem?

As Iceburg stated in a previous post, they really don't care...as long as your phone number matches your account. They still have you as a customer. Some guys have said they'd "moved" back and forth in the same day. Personally, I debated about doing it for quite a while...and if Dish had the satellite bandwidth they needed, we'd probably all have our locals in HD. But, they don't...and who knows how long it will be before they reach the smaller markets. And, if you're like me, once you get used to viewing programs in HD, it's painful to have to go back to SD!!!

I just bring my VoIP box with me since you guys don't have the receivers call-in over the ethernet cable yet.actually the Dish receiver can't phone home through a VOIP box. so people with VOIP have to pay the extra $5 fee.
Really? You should have told my 811 that. Somehow it would connect, look at the bill with the remote, show it connected in the info screen, upload PPV's, etc.
Now if you have Packet8 VoIP...then yes it won't connect due to the lack of g711u.
I've helped several people purchase a Sipura1001 VoIP($60) and they use a FREE VoIP service to connect their receivers to the world. Plus they get a free incoming phone number for people to call them at home to boot.

my mom has vonage and her 322 receiver won't talk through it (at least this is what she tells me). now, it could just be that my mom doesn't know how to configure it. or maybe it's something special about vonage. i don't know much about the different flavors of voip. at any rate, she'd love to stop paying charlie the extra $60 per year that vonage is costing her.

Ok, read thru alot of posts but still have question on this issue. I have a 522(?) (DVR but non HD) and a 3xx something (non-DVR), no HD. I live in Lapeer, MI and receive Detroit locals which is 75 miles away. I would like to get Flint, MI locals. What do I need to check to be sure I would receive them ok and would I lose FSN Detroit? Thanks.

Ok guys. I just "moved" from NE Arkansas to Phili and get the HD package but now I'm in trouble cause the wife can't watch CW anymore. Is there somewhere else I can move to get the CW channel? I have the 119, 110, and 61.5 dishes. When I put my address in the dish network website it says I qualify for the superstation package but when I called to add it they said I can't get it because of the Phili CW station. By the way I "live" in a town called Malvern outside of Phili.
You can use VOIP with E* (at least w/ 622)
I have Vonage hooked into my 622 and it works great. The key at least for me was adding *99 to the predial number in the setup menu. The dish installer set it up this way and it works great. No extra 5.00 for me.

Can you get The CW via an OTA antenna?
You aren't eligible for the superstation package since you "live" in Malvern and should be getting The CW from the Philly Spotbeam (spotbeam 4 at 110 degrees). of course, you don't actually live in Malvern and you have no chance of seeing that spotbeam from your location.
Los Angeles, New York, and Denver currently have The CW (not HD) on CONUS transonders at 119 degrees. So a "move" to one of these cities would give you HD locals and The CW in SD. Another advantage of moving to any of these locations would be getting a RSN (Comcast Sports Net Philly isn't available on Dish Network).
LA HD locals are at 129 degrees. NYC HD locals are at 61.5 degrees. Denver HD locals are at 129 degrees but the Denver HD NBC affiliate is currently not available on Dish Network.
Since you moved to Philly, I know you have a dish pointed at 61.5 degrees. So NYC would definitely work. NYC has the added bonus of also have WWOR -- a MyTV affiliate (again, not HD) -- on a CONUS transponder. So it sounds like NYC is your best bet.
Of course, if you have a signal from 129 degrees (ie, you can tune to channel 9901
) then you could get HD locals and The CW in SD from LA or Denver but you would not get MyTV.

I tried to "move" to my parents address in northern virginia, but when i said i want to get locals at this new address they said it requires another satellite dish pointed in another direction. I'm currently in Charlottesville Virginia and I really want to "move" before this weekend for the next round of NFL playoff games. Does anyone know anywhere I could "move" without requiring another satalitte dish?
I'm still confused why i'd need another dish installed to get the "washington dc locals" when it looks like those channels are on sat. 61.5 which i already lock in quite well. If anyone has any info on how i can get the dc locals or another zip i could "move to" so i get the 4 networks in hd I'd really appreciate it. Thanks everyone!
