I am not sure about earlier firmware versions but using the 992 version firmware if you navigate to Settings/Dish Settings/Transponder/ there is a blue Edit button that allows you to add channels that did not scan.
Thanks! I found a way on my own, but will have to try your method as well...:bluesbros

Team,
With caution, please test the next version number 1045 of firmware: http://marketing.glorystar.tv/update/usb_update.bin

Done:
1. slight improvement of recording/playback - developers are working on improving more.
2. VPN added
3. Proxy added
4. improved iOS/Android streaming to "VIVANT Remote" application (still under development, but working better)
5. Improved motor functions

This is not yet approved for public release, but seems very stable. Please comment with your own observations. Thank you.

FYI. 1045 seems to have disabled the blind scan.

Also, for developers, Samba is now installed and enabled, i will provide more details shortly.

For now, if you would like to connect to the receiver from Windows and manage the recordings, rename them, delete, drop files, you will have to make sure that your TCP/IP has NetBIOS over TCP/IP enabled in WINS (please look at your advanced settings of the TCP/IP protocol in network settings). Then just check your HDVR3500 IP address in the Menu>Settings>Network Settings and Map network drive from Windows explorer or just type \\(your receiver ip address) into explorer and you will see the receiver share in your explorer.

This allows you to do whatever you need to manage files as well as if you like to put your own classics on the receiver drive.

This also prepares a way to manage satellites/transponders/channel lists from the convenience of your computer. Also, gives you the benefits of "single" core processor (this is pun intended, lol)

Below is a screen shot of my internal drive content, i recorded Joseph Prince on Daystar and renamed the file (and deleted unnecessary files)

Could the lockups have anything to do with the internal flash drive? I sometimes notice when I'm recording to the internal drive it seems to freeze for a moment. Maybe the speed of the drive can't keep up with the USB bus. Is the internal flash drive used to store any of the receiver's settings? Also noticed users mentioning different sized drives, may have an issue with the differences in the drives. Mine has the 16GB flash drive. Was also wondering if this could be swapped out for a larger drive? Something else I noticed, I deleted all the Eastern satellites and other satellites I don't use, and my menus seem to respond faster. I'm using the 992 firmware.

yes it is possible. We have installed class 10 drives, which would be plenty sufficient for required transfer speeds. But we also learned, when using latest SSD drive there were less or no video or performance degradations. We have also learned that some unnecessary data was being saved to the drive, which made the stutter. Another words, if just video and audio in perfect quality were recorded, there were no jerkiness or stutter. When the file written included other information from the transponder, it caused the video to be larger then necessary. hopefully we will be able to isolate and eliminate this error.

Will there be any issues if I change out the internal usb drive for a different drive? I have 3 different 32GB dives I'd like to test. One from PNY, Toshiba, & Sandisk. Also is there a way to disable the parental lock on the DVR? I find it annoying. I was able to disable it for the system changes, but not for the DVR. THANKS!

My receiver randomly reboots after installing this firmware. Don't know if it does it on every satellite or channel yet, but I was watching PBS HD on 125w. The settings are: 12180MHz, 30000Kbps, Vertical, VPID 49, APID 52, PCR 49, Service ID 3, PMT ID 48. I also tried recording to the internal drive and it would start then stop with no indication of an error. Will try other satellites and SD channels as well and see if it happens elsewhere.

Recording works on my receiver with this firmware
It does work, but has the pre-992 symptoms. There was a small change in the code, but that obviously was not it.

I requested mid-release in 1045 firmware to enable vpn and proxy for testing, we had a client that wanted to watch remote market via proxy.

Also, I wanted to expedite ability to share the internal drive. IMO, sharing the drive adds new possibilities of backing up data, and other management, where it's quick access to internal drive. So I approve drive sharing, I need someone to test the proxy and if you have simple VPN setup, please let me know if it worked for you.

VPN would allow IPTV camera monitoring on HDVR3500 and will allow on-campus feeds available at off campus dormitories. Many campuses allow VPN access to CCTV. So if you can test it, let me know how it went.

Ruled out hardware issue causing the lock-ups that was happening with version 992. Been out of town with the STB running four days on original firmware without a lock-up without any other changes. 24/7 on 125w PBS HD1 feed.

Going to now load v 1045 to test.

This reflects my own test.
After updating to 1045, please map it's drive from windows for fun of it and play PBS HD on the receiver and play the recording from the internal drive at the same time. Let me know if it handles it fine on your end.

Thank you Brian.

I guess I am going to need to be spoon fed if anyone can see what I may be doing wrong or not doing. I am trying to simply connect with files and data from the HDVR3500 to browse, rename, add files, delete files, etc. etc. as described by SatAV. I am working from a laptop running Windows 8.1. I am not sure if I have a Network or a Home Group but I do know that there are 3 computers in our house using a single router and file sharing is enabled and I can access folders and files on all of them. I have enabled NetBIOS over Tcp/IP as instructed. In my Windows Explorer / This PC I can see the HDVR3500 as a Network Location but when I try to map a connection to it the HDVR3500 does not show up in the list to map to. If I open the HDVR3500 in This PC the Windows Explorer opens it and I can see some files and folders but am not allowed to add, delete, change, or anything. I initially see 3 folders for Video, Music, and Photos and can navigate through them but just can't figure out what I need to do to have some administrative rights to do anything. I typed the HDVR3500 IP address into the Windows Explorer address bar (no prefix or suffix just plain 192.168.1.7) and the Explorer searched and searched for a long time never opening any files or folders inside of the HDVR3500. Anyone know what I need to do or what I am doing wrong?

Please, open Windows Explorer and just punch in your receiver IP address into the explorer address field with following format \\192.168.1.53\share and it will show you the drives. 192.168.1.53 would be an example.

Check your ip address in Menu > Settings > Network Settings the ip address is the top address. let me know what it is.

BIG SMILE AND CHUCKLE! THANKS ... that worked

Please keep in mind, if you are changing the Video recording name, please change both the .TS and .IDX file name to the same.

Also, if you have any of your videos from HDVR1200 or microHD, please save them into the root or other subfoulder. Do not save them into the RECORD directory, because they are not identified with proper HDVR3500 IDX code.

So if you have any of your vacation videos or GOpro videos, just save them into new created vacation folder and access them by pressing Media button, instead of DVR.

I disagree. I installed 1045 tuesday and blind scanned about 6 different satellites after the installation and it seemed to work as I expected. There was one blind scan that didn't but that was my fault - I forgot to take the LNB line from my spectrum analyzer back to the HDVR3500 to do the scan so the receiver had no LNB input and thus no blind scan results.

I do think the video resolution has been disabled. I noticed 2 news feeds didn't have video resolution listed, even after the info bar went away and I brought it back up that has shown in the past to be more accurate than the info bar upon first tuning a channel. I'll have to pay more attention to that today since I only caught the video resolution info bar problem on the last two video services I looked at before going to bed.
