General Sports Trivia

What NHL team holds the record for most 100-point scorers in a single-season?

Bruins in the early 70's???

EDIT: I can see this record belonging to one of those great Oiler teams. Between Gretzky, Messier, Kurri, Coffey, Anderson, etc., they certainly could hold this mark. My guess is still the Bruins though.

Has the trivia question at hand been answered and finalized? If so, I have a good one to contribute....

Not to pick on Sabres, but he has asked three trivia questions (I have answered two of them) and has yet to provide an answer to any of them. Come on buddy, if you ask a question you have to say yay or nay to someone's answer. :D

Alright. I don't want to step on any toes, but I agree that if a question is asked and answers provided, the OP needs to keep updated with yay's or nay's or eventually answer the outstanding question.

But since Sabres had his fill of questions and the last one seemed to be dead, I will move forward with a new question.....

I'll try another question- hopefully, I'll provide the answers if nobody figures it out.

On March 2, 1993, two very significant moments occured in the NHL.

Can you name either or both of them?

(If nobody figures it out, I have the answers)

Sabres, can you please give the answers to the other questions (all three questions are on page 26 of this thread). Thank You.

All right.

Here they are:

1. The 1995-96 Milwaukee Bucks contributed to what historic NBA milestone?

They were on the wrong end of the Bulls' historic 70th win.

2. On January 22, 2006, two important football games and two meaningful basketball games coincided on the same day. Name the four events, the teams, and what made them so significant?

The Steelers/Broncos and Panthers/Seahawks played in their respective conference championship games.

The Sonics beat the Suns in a 152-149 shootout in double overtime.

The Lakers beat the Raptors in the game Kobe had 81 points.

What NHL team holds the record for most 100-point scorers in a single-season?

Five times overall by three different teams- they each had 4 100-point men.

The Oilers did it three times.

1982-83:

Wayne Gretzky (71-125-196)
Mark Messier (48-58-106)
Glenn Anderson (48-56-104)
Jari Kurri (45-59-104)

1983-84:

Wayne Gretzky (87-118-205)
Paul Coffey (40-86-126)
Jari Kurri (52-61-113)
Mark Messier (37-64-101)

1985-86:

Wayne Gretzky (52-163-215)
Paul Coffey (48-90-148)
Jari Kurri (68-63-131)
Glenn Anderson (54-48-102)

The Penguins did it in 1992-93:

Mario Lemieux (69-91-160)
Kevin Stevens (55-56-111)
Rick Tocchet (48-61-109)
Ron Francis (24-76-100)

Your Bruins did it in 1970-71:

Phil Esposito (76-76-152)
Bobby Orr (37-102-139)
Johnny Bucyk (51-65-116)
Ken Hodge (43-62-105)

I hope this takes care of everything.

Mario Lemieux returned to playing after his radiation treatments for Hodgkin's disease?

I have a question.

The Reds did something this year that has never been done before. Part of it was yesterday and part was earlier this year. What did they do?

Hit seven homeruns per game against the same team (the Choke-ago Cubs) twice in a season - one game at home and one game on the road. :up
