..... My "V" version had the battery changed about 3 or 4 years ago, so it still has 10 years left I guess, although I'm sure there won't be anything left for it to view by then.}

.....

Might be a good idea to "piggyback" a new battery on your 4200V before it goes out as well. These receivers are starting to get old enough that the batteries will be dying shortly...

Yeah, after I read this last night, I plugged in my 4200V to make sure it's still OK and it is. :D:up

Since my "V" version has a fairly new battery, I wasn't too concerned about it, however I really don't use these receivers too much (but may now, due to some FP stuff :) ), so I usually don't keep them plugged in. I'm also starting to think maybe I should keep them plugged in just to keep battery drain to a minimum.

It's probably worth putting a battery in the 4200Vs. Mine is original too and from who knows when. I just lost a 410 myself so lesson learned. I never looked inside to see which type it has. I haven't used mine since May when zombie sat was near AMC11.

Any one know if a voom or 4dtv remote has a button that is the TIME button?

I do not have a star choice remote iceburg got the ppv button to work. I don't remember if the voom or 4dtv remote has a ppv button.

Sweet :up

Yellow Button On Voom Remote Works As TIME Button.

Battery

I have 2 dsr920 receivers and changed the battery in both. when measuring the old battery had the voltage of a new battery. The DSR4200 I question if the battery really needs to be changed unless the receiver was subjected to a hot area ?
Made a observation on the 4200 receiver front end sensitivity is really good as I have 2 dsr4200, dsr920 and FTA connected to the same c band lnb. The loading on circuit for the 4200 is minimal.
Is the zoom remote UR3-SAT-CV01 ?

I have seen a couple of different public channel websites that show manual reauthorization instructions for this receiver. Is this only for these channels? Would it be logical to think that one could get re-authorization instructions from whatever channel that is ITC? Or am I completely missing something here. Is there any channels worth chasing with this receiver that can't be had with more modern FTA receivers?

The DSR-4200V is a digicipher II receiver so it works like a 4DTV does.
Everything is manual programing and you are allowed one VCT table (one set of channels...or one TP) at a time. If you want to try and pick up other channels you do a master reset and start over. Its an old commercial unit. I had one and it worked fine for the Music Choice channels on 125W C-Band and a while back there was a couple freebie channels on 91W C-Band too. Those are gone now.

If they were authorized at one time they would still work. Otherwise you got a pretty doorstop

A few of us have or had one. I had one that died (power surge)....bought a new one that was a pretty doorstop as it hadnt been authorized so it got nothing. The best use on KU for them at the time (dang 2-3 years ago) was for Georgia PBS. They use to be on KU Band and had 3 or 4 channels that you could get. The 4DTV units only got the main channel.

I have noticed a surge in buying 4200 on ebay ? Noticed one seller selling new units complete but worried that they will not work not being authorized ? Just swapped power supplies in a 4200v as I had one that was scrap.

I could be wrong but I think someone started a rumor that the 4200v would work on the hits system and a few people are buying them up.

I agree. But those UA's are not in the hits system since they were built for direct auth but you just never know kind of like the dsr305us.
