Gas Price Info With National Gas Temperature Map

The Salem Costco's premium went up 2 cents.

Redwood City took a bludgeoning with the price of regular going up 16 cents ($4.659) and premium going up 20 cents ($4.999). Rohnert Park seems much less put upon now.

Ha, maybe my discussion with the RP Costco manager about why the Santa Rosa and Redwood City stores were so much cheaper jinxed the other stores. He didn't have an answer that made any sense.

Gasoline pricing doesn't seem to make much sense as it is. An understanding of petroleum futures is far above most people's heads.

The price going up is trivial to explain in geopolitical terms.

Why the sometimes huge differentials (excluding local taxes) exist is a puzzler indeed.

The one constant is that when the price gets near a round dollar, it will take a push to get it to go past (either way). It is sad that that dollar figure is now $5 for Northern California.

I will remind everyone that the California gas tax is 59.6 cents per gallon. Oregon is 38 cents and Oklahoma is 19 cents.

As of January California gas tax is 69.8 cents per gallon.

I didn't come across this in my research.

The California Department of Tax and Fee Administration doesn't show this in their table:

There is reportedly a 59-65 cent increase coming (probably July 1st as this is historically -- since 2019 -- the day that they raise the gas tax rate).

There are around half a dozen components (including sales tax and something called "sales tax pre-payment") to the net "tax" figure so it is very complicated.

Yes, you are correct. The one place I found that figure was AI generated. The CA site shows it correctly.

Jumpin' Jehoshaphat!

Costco Salem is $3.219 and $3.639.
Costco Redwood City is $4.799 and $5.199 so they're keeping in line with RP.

Costco seems to be quite a bit cheaper in SoCal than it is in NorCal.

I paid $2.729 for regular gas at Sams' Club in Bentonville, AR yesterday. I also paid $16.52 for five dozen eggs at Sam's Club. I got two boxes before they went up.

They're playing the Martinez refinery fire for all it is worth and then some. My sister read that they were also making noise about the Summer formula change but that doesn't usually start until April.

The Salem Costco has decreased 2 cents to $3.199 in the last week.

Costco Redwood City is fully 30 cents/gallon cheaper than Costco RP for regular and 40 cents for premium. Presumably coming from the same refineries.

Costco Santa Rosa (a little over five miles away from Costco RP) is 30 cents cheaper for regular and 14 cents cheaper for premium.

Napa is 50 cents cheaper ($4.499) for regular and 40 cents cheaper ($4.999) for premium, again presumably from the same sources.

I suppose the differential between grades (ranging from 30 to 50 cents) owes to the staggering of deliveries.
