Right you are. Been down this road before. Discussed it with lots of members, too.
There is a big AMC 21 thread with 300 posts, and somewhere in the middle, I described (with some tables of numbers) how to get 2° on certain dishes.
For one work around, ya might take two dishes capable of 6° each, and interleave 'em to get the desired satellites.
Given a constant F/D in the .6 to .7 range that we deal with on offset dishes, the larger the focal length, the farther apart your LNBs need to be for a given satellite spacing.
