If I were in their shoes I'd tell Dish to KMA. Let the wife start her own 'company' and sell Dish if they dropped me. 'Rent' her space in the store. Problem solved.

The theory has some credence as NDS is also reported to have had access to the type of scanning electron microscopes needed to "hack" the smart cards used by Nagravision2. That equipment is listed and they are supposedly on the list of registered users. Why a security encryption firm would need that equipment suggests they were involved with Nagravision2 cracking.
I should also note that while my two Echostar receivers have smart card slots I somehow or other don't have a smartcard plugged into them (I assume they are using software CAMs now). The manual states the smart card slot is for "future use."
Scott,Its a dumb witch hunt.
Free To Air is LEGAL Dish.
Also remember that Echostar is the largest maker and provider in Europe, and also Echostar FTA equipment is considered one of the most hackable units made.
Hello Mr Pot... Meet Mr Kettle.
True, it looks nice. No way it is worth $1300 plus VAT and shipping! All the user manuals of their FTA receivers are on EchoStar Europe - Digital Television Design - Powering the Free-to-Air Revolution under the support link.
Here's a review site of one of them. Echostar PVR-5020 review & manual - Retrevo Same place has a link to Redirecting... which have them for sale £629.99 for the PVR with 250GB drive. These look to be really nice boxes.
Hey Scott, notice the irony of the link title you and I both posted? Echostar is powering the FTA revolution in Europe while simultaneously trying to quash it here.
