From VOOM to DISH

I must admit, the DISH is a much better product than I actually realized. I always experienced rain fade with both D* and V*, but after installing DISH and viewing the reception during a heavy rain storm, I never lost my signal, which is a first for me.

Also, the Dish PQ is better than VOOM's.. better SD quality and I would dare to say the HD quality is better, too.

I would like to see DISH add Universal HD.

One question, I live in the Tampa Bay DMA, and I qualify for local channels, but I would like to get the CBS HD channels from New York. My OTA will not pick up CBS out of St. Petersburg as I live 90 miles SE of the tower. Oddly enough, I can receive digital signal from Orlanda (ABC & CBS) and digital signal from Tampa (FOX & NBC). Do I qualify for CBS HD feed from New York?

If you live 90 miles SE of the WTSP tower, maybe you can get Miami CBS. If not, contact WTSP and see if they will grant you a waiver. If they say yes, then let them know they will be contacted by Dish Network soon with the proper request forms. Or, you could simply, start the process by calling DishNetwork and request they send the waiver forms to WTSP. Good luck. The process may take 30 days to complete if the station drags their feet but the law requires them to respond in 30 days of less.

I just added VOOM10 on Sunday and the process was easy, no hassles from the CSR at all. Took all but 2 minutes. Initial observation is that the channels are a bit softer than when I had them on VOOM but my current evaluation is somewhat unfair since my 921 is connected via RGBHV while the VOOM receiver was connected via DVI which produces a sharper image on my system that is quite visible. The VOOM 10 are of equal quality to the best E* channels, however so nothing to complain about here except that I really would like to have starz, Cinemax, and TMC HD movie channels to be really happy.
