Free Previews

Scrolled through the free previews. Three channels have no guide data, the rest is old bad movies or newer movies that were on the last couple free previews.
Blame HBO for that. I doubt Dish has any input into what's being broadcast on those channels, eh?

Dish is adding a number of channels in free preview between Dec 1 and Jan 1 for “Holiday Binge-a-Palooza”

I looked at the guide channels for the Free Previews that are coming up but most of the channels are not showing up in theguide even though I'm viewing all channels.

The mailer indicates Starz Ch 340, 350-356. The only ones that show up in my guide are 353 & 355.

I've never had a problem looking at the Free Previews before. Anyone else having this issue?

Are you on Eastern Arc? Usually, only the standard-def feeds show up on the regular channel numbers unless you subscribe to the channels. (or unless they are actually in free preview) The problem with Eastern Arc is that there are no longer any SD duplicates of most of the premium channels that are carried in HD. So, it sounds like you are only seeing the channels in the guide that are only carried in SD. You can try looking in the 9000's to see the HD feeds listed there, but even that would not do any good if the HD feeds are completely hidden to non-subscribers.

I am on the Eastern Arc.

I never had a problem before with the guide showing the Free Preview channels, but don't recall when I started looking at the guide.

FWIW it was 3:52PM on Feb 1 when noticed my guide was missing the channels & emailed my friend who has the same setup I have & asked what he had for Starz. He responded at 4:54PM that he did have all the Starz channels in the guide. I never asked about the others (HBO, etc).

I didn't look at my guide again until about 7:30PM and then all the Starz channels were there. But Showtime, HBO, etc. still showed only a few channels & they were all SD.

About 10:00PM I downloaded/updated the guide and now all the Free Preview channels are listed. Yeah!

The Encore pack is pretty decent, having it in AT250 and the Movie Pack. But as the plus, having the Roku, I get for free the Starz/Encore app. So I get the Starz movies on demand, even though I only have Encore on Dish. But Starz does not have that much on Dish, but their on demand app, gives more content. This month loves like a lot of free movies this month. Next week Showtime, the week after that HBO/Cinemax.

Site say Starz Encore till the 26th, HDNet Movies to 3/4. Have not checked yet.

All but one of the channels in my guide for Starz Encore are standard definition!!??? Who wants to watch that? Some “preview”. I’ll keep my money....
