Just called again. Again, I was told to call back in 1 month due to the HD Access credit already being on the account. He did say he noted my account though and didn't say anything about having to give up my TC+ package. He also signed me up for recurring payment so all I would have to do is call and it would be added quickly.

2 years isn't life but is good enough for me. Oh wait, isn't the world gonna end in 2012 anyways? LOL

When ya'll are calling are you talking to customer service or retensions? I want to keep TC+ and get the deal.

Perhaps I should call back?
I just talked to a CSR and she did it for me within a few seconds. Didn't have to beg or complain. I just asked nicely and she obliged

I just Called Talked to a great CSR (older Woman..) She said she just added to my account free for 2 years.. No questions asked. I just Joined D* march 2010.. I moved, it was under my Wifes name, before....

I would give them a call if I were in your shoes !

Jimbo this is what I would do if I were you .

Go get a 25 dollar Amex gift card .

(our system cant tell it not a real amex card )

put it on file for auto pay.

the card will never be charged since you pay yearly so it will never be declined

go spend the 25 dollars on something and just keep the empty card on file and get your free hd credit for crying out loud.

Note dont anyone else try this as this only works because Jimbo pays annually and so there always a + credit balance on his account .

In theory, would a person be able to do this by using the prepaid card for autopay but never getting to the date that the card would be charged. What I am asking is could a person have autopay turned on with a dummy payment method, but pay my bill manually before it would be charged automatically? Will the web site allow you to pay manually if you have autopay turned on? I am asking out of pure curiosity really.

Again, Thanks for the information Satellite guys!, nice to save a few dollars where ever you can!

I think this would work seeing you would pay your bill ahead of time, as long as you made sure it was paid ahead of time as the system would see a CREDIT BALANCE each time it went to look for the Autopayment.

I would keep a close eye on it incase it charged you for the payment on the card as well as the credit balance.

That said, I would check with SC before trying this as he would be the most informative person here in this area.

Q. Does this eliminate you from ANY other discounts over the 2 year period ?

Nothing was mentioned to me and when all was said and done after my WH setup Im showing the following on my account:
24 x $10 off free HD for 24 months
12 x $10 off a month
3 months $15 off for some of my movie channels

So unless she forgot to remove stuff I get $35 off for 3 months, then 9 months of $20 off, and then $10 off for the last 12.

ok cool. I might try it then
Did you try it?

If you do get it, keep in mind that the HR2x's may not perform as well as your current DVR. If you can somehow get a new HR24 or an older HR20, you will get a much better performing DVR than the HR21 through HR23

Are you a NEW sub or an existing sub ?

I've been here for awhile.

I just called and asked how I, an 11 year subscriber can get the free HD like new customers do and was given it free for 2 years by signing up for auto pay.

Did you try it?
no not yet

Thats what I'm worried about. I started with a R15 and thought it was OK but when I moved to the R22 that receiver is the bomb! :)

A moment of trouble getting through the voice navigation system when it seemed confused when I asked for 'free hd'. It finally told me it could auto add HD service for me for $10. I said 'customer service' and got a person.

Said I'd heard they had a promo for free HD, a ten dollar a month credit, for 24 months. She looked it up, confirmed my autopayment, and it was done 2 minutes later.

Called and told the CSR that I was aware of a 24 month free HD for existing subs. I already had auto pay so she sorted me out a 24 month credit within a minute or two.

No problems at all.

No dice, Because I'll NEVER set up Auto Pay with D* or E*

And I'll tell you why, Because Right now my Bill is $217.91.
Yep, and thats because D* doesn't apply the proper credits untill 3 days before my next bill, If they feel like it, For my MLB EI package deal.
