Fox Blocks Millions of DISH Customers

More than that, plus I pay for four local channels and one is gone (25%). Plus O&O second local channel off, plus FS1, FS2, WWOR (which I pay $2 a month for) Big10 channels (multiple). Besides, not fair to deduct $3 a month, as these are key channels for me (I probably spend at least 20% of my viewing on them (as I am a sports fan). PLUS we are doing this during NCAA football, NFL and baseball playoffs. I would not take a $25 discount on my bill if I had the opportunity to permanently. (Not even talking about all the sports channels gone from the SPorts package). I was offered free SHO. Never watch!
I hear ya. Just be sure to let us know here which service you switch to so others can follow suit.

Everyone puts a different value on a channel. You might feel FS1 is worth $5, but Dish is only charging you $2 (making up numbers). The point is if you look at what you're actually paying for any given channel per month, it's not that much at a per day rate. Heck, even using your 25% of local channels are gone, out of the $12/month you pay for locals, you're supposedly paying $3/month (which I don't think anyone is yet). So that's a dime a day.

And FWIW comparison, Directv/ATT was in a dispute with Sinclair and the banners were going on a lot of local networks that you were going to lose your (ABC, CBS, etc) by Friday - but they settled with no blackout time at all.

I'd like to know what ++ and ¤¤ mean next to my stations :biggrin

Why are you trolling, Claude? You have a dog in the hunt and a grudge against Dish. You can stop trolling now. It's getting beyond annoying...

It's not like he's wrong about anything he said. Although, I don't know why he'd waste his time on a Dish forum if he isn't a customer any longer. I envy people that have TV/internet options.

As long as we do not have a la carte channels, certain channels make paying these prices reasonable. You cannot cut to lower packs if you lose others. I do not need any Disney Channels, cooking, etc, yet I pay for them. Maine is trying to pass an a la carte law, which I doubt gets passed, or not overturned. Greed is causing the problems we are having. Letting cable companies own networks was a really dumb idea...thus no HBO on DISH and loss of Sports in NY market

As Dish keeps giving out these alternate workarounds to all of the channels you’re not getting, i.e get HBO Now, get an OTA, etc etc you’d think customers would start answering them with “Great, so why do I still need you again?”

Millions are saying exactly that. They are going to streaming where there are not contracts, fees, etc. Don't like a service, drop it immediately and change to another. No new equipment to hook up either.

Yah, I've had enough, gone on vacation mode for $5/month, will cancel shortly if things aren't resolved. Will then cut the cord completely or go to DirecTV. Say what you will about their Genie or whatever its called, but they don't have these long ongoing feuds with channels that I actually care to watch.

Just FYI...I’m in central Illinois. Went to watch the Cubs/Cards game on DTV, Fox55, at my mother-in-laws last night and it was blanked out. Came back home, 6 miles away, and watched the game on Dish, Fox55, just fine. I have lost FS1 though.

I hated that FOX traded the Boston affielate (WFXT) to Cox Media a few years ago. I didn't like how they changed the news operations to be more of sensationalism news style (ambulance chaser news) from is more localized version of GMA, Today, This Morning style news operation under FOX's ownership. Now with this headache, at least I still get to watch network programming.

People need to stop buying into the propaganda, just because it's a double-digit increase doesn't explain anything about who is right or wrong. Without looking at the actual numbers on who pays what it means nothing, Most likely Dish previously got a smoking good contract well below market value and Fox isn't willing to take the hit again.
