Scott, if DISH decides to turn on the auto hop feature on the Vip series ,will they also redo the sat receivers so that you can get all 4 networks on one tuner, like the hopper?

No the CPU is not fast enough to decode the datastream for PTAT on the ViP series, so you would not see that feature.

It just knows that you recorded NCIS from CBS on Tuesday that it has a commercial skip file for it and then can offer to turn on AutoSkip for that feature.

I saw that patent listing but saw the mention of closed-captioning and moved on.... I recall a post from Scott though that mentioned using CC markers as start/end points too. I thought they had a group in India doing this !

Why did FOX wait until auto hop was released to file the lawsuit? If FOX and the other networks are so concerned about the commercial skipping, why not file a lawsuit when the auto hop patent was filed?

You can't sue on a patent, only when it is implemented....
