Forget the BCS "Playoff", here's what I would do with College Football

Since it seems like there will never be a BCS Playoff system, I say just forget it. Heres what I would do. Call me crazy but I would expand college football's regular season by a game or 2. I know people will be negative about it but why not? Everybody knows that college football brings in big money, so why not expand on it

The next thing I would do is make ONE Saturday in December "Championship Week". I'd have all the championship games on that day. Pac 12, Big 10, Big East etc. Then I would have the bowl games start a few days after that.

Finally, END THE BOWL GAMES ON JAN.1!!! I'll bend on having the BCS Title Game as a stand alone game but thats it. Theres no way bowls should be played on Jan. 5 or 6 or 8.

So, heres a quick projection on how my plan would work. For this year, I'd have the season end on Dec. 10 with Championship Week being the following week, Dec. 17. Then I would have the bowl games start maybe on Dec. 20 or 21. Then have all the bowl games end on Jan.1. If push comes to shove, have the BCS Title Game on Jan. 3 or 4 and thats it.

What do you guys think about this?

January 1 works for me. I think they also need to quit giving all the bowl games to one network. I don't know about extending the season, injuries are already hurting a lot of teams at just 10-11 games

I would simply have a plus one playoff. They should have done this last time, but they just added another game. A plus one will take the top four, and play it out. There is rarely a LEGITIMATE argument beyond four as to who the best team really is.

16 teams..top 16 based on COMPUTER RANKINGS ONLY!!! Keep the voters out so there isn't no Bias - computers won't do that.

so 16 teams is 4 weeks starting 2nd week of December with a final game around the normal time the Championship is played..and there isn't a damn thing people can object too about ticket sales to these games as they will all be sold out way before anyway just look at what's happening with the current bowl games - hell the game at Jerry World sold out before the season started!!!

CPUs have bias built into their code. Just look at some of the very odd differences for a team across the ranking.

Example CPU rankings for this week.

WIS = 0 16 25 0 0 0

SoMiss = 18 22 15 0 0 15

TEX = 16 0 21 15 13 21

Too wildly different for my tastes to not include human voters.

Computers will do whatever the programmers tell them to do.
Id much rather have the human component than just the computer part of it. Far to easy to rig computer rankings if one was so inclined.

Taking the top 4 as you mentioned would not be a PLUS 1, it would be a PLUS 3 ....
1 plays 4, 2 plays3 and 1 game for the Championship.
3 Games.

That said, it's a START.

The argument they would have is that the typical fan that goes to the games cannot afford or find time to go to 3 or 4 more games when they would be across the country as the games go on.
Of course, lose the first game and your done.

That is simply what that format is commonly called. That's all I meant.

Its a mini playoff itself.
I thought they would do it a few years ago, but nooooo, they just added a new game to the BCS mix (the BCS champ game, for money of course).

I already cleared that up didn't I? You already have bowl games sold out... a small alottment of tickets still for each school that gets in and I'm sure they would sell out those week too week. But you don't have to play on home fields for these playoff's you can play them in pre-determined locations so you can plan well ahead if need be.

As for the computers not being right or whatever cause of programming...well lets just say you can point a finger at voters for changing minds but if a programmer dips into something already set up then I'm sure that would fall under some laws of tampering, if none exist they could be made up prior to it all setup...but I don't want the voters even involved just computers if it went to a playoff to keep it all fair and not up to the opinion of someone just the stats and numbers.
