will they be:

A) added automatically for a fee
B) added automatically for nothing
C) not added at all

come Feb. 1?

Thank you

A added automatically for a fee, is what I heard.

This is the least offensivew of all the fees and should of been done years ago! E spent a fortune putting up locals cable doesnt let you opt out, neither should E

Thanks for answering.

I think IMO however those that choose not to receive them should be grandfathered in. I mean, I'm getting mine now via the OTA tuner with the 722. It's one of the reasons I came back to Dish cause why pay for something when I can get it over the air for free.

Especially in a DMA where DISH uplinks only SD locals which will never be watched in HD households!

And Dish thinks that you should pay for what they uplink and downlink.... They are the provider and you have a choice whether to use that provider or not.

The problem is I don't need them to uplink & downlink the OTA guide data... it's already in the receiver thanks to the OTA module.

And you are correct, I can drop Dish if I'm not happy with it. I just thought I'd put in my suggestions (because we all know Dish monitors these forums looking for people complaining:rolleyes:)

And while Dish sets the rules, it doesn't mean we have to play by them.

If they want to add locals to me and charge me for them, I think I can justify not only dropping something $5 worth but maybe $10 or $15.

I just completed a chat with DISH regarding unwanted locals being added tomorrow and was given this info:

(03a) xxxxx x. xxx: Locals will not be added automatically. However, if you make any changes you will get locals along with the package from next month.

Thank you paultry.

I found it tough to swallow that locals would basically just be shoved down our throats.

You don't see me subscribing to Comcrap do ya?

I haven't had cable in 10 years. Dish for 3, UVerse for 2 and free tv/ netflix for 2. You could kinda call me the Larry Brown of television. NBA people will get that one. :)

I just thought this latest Dish offer was too good to pass up, reason I'm back. I rather settle for satellite raising rates every 3-5 years over cable raising them every 6 mo-year.

That's no lie.

thats how it is with cable... no opt out possible

Well the cable companies can offer mutli DMA networks. For instance in my DMA there is no CBS affiliate. I get charged whether I get one or all of local network affilates. With cable they can offer all crossed DMA so you shouldn't be able to "opt out" as your able to receive them but when you have a situation like mine where you will have to pay the fee regardless of how many of the networks you receive its only fair to opt out of paying for them. The neighboring cable company offers locals in three different DMAs to be able to give there subs the complete network lineup. Obvisouly dish cannot so I thinks its only fair.
