The ONT I got is a non-branded multi-use not an outdoor hang on the house type of device. It can be used as a router, 4 LAN and 2 Phone, but mine is set up for only one of the LAN ports to be functional that you connect to a router. They gave me an Actiontec C3000A for the modem. It's OK. I have others that'll work as long as they can login using PPPoE with Tagged VLAN.
They did put a box on the house where the line off the pole joins with the one that runs into the house. The Tech loved the conduit that I have that runs down the core of the house and we ran the fiber in a fraction of the time he thought it would take. Got it up and running in less than an hour. The first speed test was 946/924.
OH, when I called to cancel Comcast, the "Retention Rep" asked me if there was anything she could do to keep me? I said not unless you can give me Gigabit Fiber @ $65 a month "Price for Life". She said "I'll get that cancelation goin' for you right away!" The confirmation eMail came before I hung up.
