For those of you living in the SAcramento area, after trying 3 times, I finally was able to get a waiver from my local ABC and now I am able to get the New York ABC. It's great to be able to watch/record shows 3 hours ahead! :D Before, I was only able to get a waiver for CBS (which allowed me in the past to get also their HD CBS from LA.

great. KXTV granted you a waiver. I would like to know which provider you are receiving those national feeds from. I am interested in receiving ANY CBS HD content on satellite since I've dumped my cable provider. I have E* AT60+HD+Voom on a 921. I'll be willing to add an international (which I already obtain capability in receiving) if I'm able to get a CBS off a satellite tuner. I need it because the 921 only has 1 tuner for the OTA channels and I find myself in a dvr conflict between NBC and CBS.

howdy. yes, I was surprised they did after they had denied for 3 times. My process to get the CBS HD from LA was as follows. First you contact dish to get request they submit a waiver to KOVR 13 for Distant network (DON'T mention HD at this point!). You can request both LA and New York (I currently have LA). Call KOVR and speak to their engineer (sorry forgot his name) and tell him who you are and that you're requesting the waiver, etc. He (at least the guy I chatted with) was a very nice guy and processed my request as soon as it landed on his computer. Once your waiver is granted, you call dish again and tell them that, since they already aproved you for CBS DN, to please also add the HD CBS DN. They did it for me (and according to the engineer to everybody else who requested it this way). The main fact here is to NOT request a waiver for HD right away, but go around it... Now, I'm not sure, but I think that the LA HD CBS comes out of satellite 148 and New York comes out of 61.5. Do you already have a dish pointed at 148 or 61.5? For 148 ,for those of us in the sacto area you can have it installed for free if you call dish and tell them you want your "must carry" local channels (the 2 spanish language channels we have). I got it for me because 148 is where the Brazilian channel is and I think it has most of the international channels.
Good luck. Let me know if you have more questions!

Thank you for the tip. I think I won't have too much difficulty now that KOVR13 is a O&O Viacom. It's good to know the procedure you followed especially before the Viacom aquisition.
As far as which Distant...I don't care. As long as a satellite tuner tunes either NBC or, in this case, CBS. I already have a wing at 61.5, so I'll be asking for NY. But LA won't be difficult, I'll just have to mount another collector and put a DP21 in front of my current DPP44.

no problem. Lucky you for being able to get 61.5. I can't due to pine trues blocking the view. I also applied for a waiver for NBC (pending) and fox (already denied). Strange that fox denied because just a few months ago I could have gotten them with no problem. Good luck and enjoy your Voom channels!
