First Rumor of 2009 - 922 Screenshot?

Which means that it is still vaporware, because the screen is a mockup...

Lets hope the guy that did the mockup isn't the guy who ends up designing the UI. It looks like they have a long way to go... They should hire someone with some actual graphical design talent. Just my $0.02.

Agree with others about wasted screen real estate. I predict that problem will be remedied by the time this is real and not just a mockup.

The only big change I see on that UI is the addition channel icons. I imagine they look too cheesy on SD displays, so this is how the new UI takes advantage of your HDTV. These channel icons were probably static on the mockup, while the actual guide info was dynamic. Somebody probably scrolled down and got the wrong program info aligned with the static channel numbers/icons, thus explaining the odd pairing of programs with channels.

Hey whatever happened to the modular centralized multi-room setup that was rumored a year or two ago? I recall reading about a design where you could snap in additional receiver and DVR modules as needed, and there being a very simple dumb box in each room with the outputs and the remote interface. Is that idea dead?

Having the Slingbox built in maybe E*'s approach to the MRV solution. The Sling is already capable of HD streaming, depending on how many tuners are in the 922, all you need is to add several Sling client boxes and you will have a robust MRV at home and on the road too.

Since DirecTV will be a no-show this year, Scott should get all the attention:)

You guys must have super vision I can't tell an F'n thing about the remote.

While looking at the remote pic, hold down the control key and press the plus key a few times. You'll zoom in. Then you'll be able to see "next to nothing" about the remote. :p

I like the look of the new guide! I been looking at going to a DVR if I do I will most likely go with this one.. Yeah it will be better to see better pics from CES but thanks for the info Scott..

i would like to see a new function in the guide like in windows media centers guide. i wish you could arrow to the left and select the channel and see all the programming for the day for that channel only. handy feature when you want to check out what movies are on hbo, showtime, etc...

Are we sure that's touchpad and not a touchscreen?

I think having video in the guide is wasted screen real estate. If you turn off the pic in guide you get more channels listed. If one relly needs pic with guide hit browse instead. I have 8 irds in the house from dish and bell and non have pic in guide turned on.

I could not disagree with you more. I LOVE the enhanced with video guide. It still lists plenty of channels on the screen and I can still follow what is going on in the picture (especially helpfull when there are lots of ball games on). That "little window" is still pretty darn big on my 60" TV. ;)

:up looks great on my 60in too. It was one of things I liked about the guide on the old Dishplayers. I prefer the darker colors too.

I LOVE how it has the logos of the channels.
I've always wanted this feature in Dish's program guide.... I liked it when DirecTV had it, what, 6-7 years ago ? To be honest, there are many channels that I don't really know their names and the abbreviations used don't help me enough !

Man upset with the DTV transition
