Hello! I've been a member of the DBS forum since 2005 but haven't really been staying in touch, mainly just because my 921 doesn't crap-out anymore and everything has been fine - until now... A have an installer coming over tomorrow morning to swap out my 921 for a 622. I currently have a Super Dish, (2) 311, (1) 510 and (1) 921 all being fed from (2) cascaded DP34 switches. Just in case my installer doesn't bring his "A-game", I would really appreciate a heads-up as to what would be the right (or wrong) way to make this install happen. Would a Dish 1000+ and a DP44 be the way to go, with a separator at the 622? Anything you can tell me would be much appreciated. I'm in upstate NY, and I'm currently seeing 110, 119 and 121. Thanks in advance! Also.. the tech CSR said I'll now need to see 129 also for the new HD channels and HD locals when they're available.

First off Welcome to the forums
:welcome

Unless you actually receive programming from the 121 satellite (which is doubtful unless you have a very odd situation) The tech will more than likely just need to disconnect the 121 satellite from the DP34 Switch, and put up a 61.5 to get the new HD programming. He may also take down the Superdish and install a Dish 500 in it's place, as there have been a number of problems with the superdishes over the past few years. I don't believe that your area is covered by the 129 satellite so AFAIK you will not be getting a 1000.2 LNB. As far as the 921 goes, after taking care of the sats, he will probably take the 921 out, and put the 622 (or 722) directly in it's place, not swapping out any cables whatsoever. Enjoy all the new HD your abot to get!

Thanks for the speedy reply! So you're saying that I'll end up with a single dish 500, and all existing cabling will not change? Or do I need a separate dish for 61.5? I've never had any problems with my Super Dish. Lots of OTA issues, but the sat feeds have always been strong.

Thanks for the welcome! The Dish tech rep told me that my HD locals would be on 129 when they're available. What happens then? Will they be mirrored to 61.5?

So, then it makes sense for me to have 110, 119 and 129, now, or else the installer needs to come back when my HD locals are ready, right? And if that's the deal then are we back to a Dish 1000 and DP44 scenario?

Wow... misinformation from a Dish CSR.. go figure. I am getting SD locals right now, without 61.5, so HD locals will come from a different sat?

I ended up with two 500's: one for 110 and 119 and a second for 61.5. Three input lines feed a DP44 and four output lines feed my receivers. 722 is fed with a separator.

Thanks for all of the help!

Suprised with the timing that they didn't "eastern arc" you. However, I hear that is primarily for "new customers" only at this point. However, the argument for that, new HD DVR's with the new crypto card technology, would have been met with your new 722 they installed.

Currious.....

No worries though, you'll still get all the programming! In addition, maybe there was some LOS issues with a 1000.4 dish?
