I hooked it up and scanned channels and I have 24 ota channels...is there anywhere I can look to see if I was able to get the max amount of channels...I believe that its correct, I just want to see what channels are available in my area

How many channels is everyone able to scan and find???

Thanks

just enter your zip code: http://transition.fcc.gov/mb/engineering/maps/

it will not list all the stations you can get, but is an idea
also, you can get signal maps for specific stations here: http://transition.fcc.gov/dtv/markets/

If your TV has an ATSC tuner in it simply take the OTA coax off of the Dish dongle and attach it to your TV. Use the TV to scan the antenna channels and see what you get. They should be similar. Mine were mostly exact. The Dish dongle picked up some special channels that the TV didn't but I can't receive any picture because they are OTA versions of NFL, RedZone, Starz, GolTV, etc., which are OTA subscription channels with another company.

I picked up some of those same channels and was wondering what they were. I've never picked them up before using my tv or my old 722. I didn't know OTA subscriptions were available. Who would you pay for those channels?

It appears to be a company called AirBox. They are only alive in certain cities, apparently. I know that, while they have channels in the SF Bay Area, they are not alive here yet.

Do you two have cable internet and are connecting that? Those channels are NOT available OTA. I suspect you're getting them via QAM.

No Hall I am not, I repeat, not receiving them via QAM. The Hopper OTA module doesn't have a QAM tuner, just ATSC. If you google AirBox, you'll see that it exists...

Thank you Gdarwin I now have one too and another one coming from another satguys member. This site rocks!!!!! :)
Thanks again Gdarwin.

Contrary to the impression you might get from here, only a small number of Dish customers will have any interest in this.

That's why there are only 54 pages to this thread? It is of interest to many, not the majority but lots of folks have been waiting for this!
