I predict that Dish will enable external drives on the 722 but not for the 622. It just seems like something they would do.

This is huge disappointment. When I first saw the headlines of the 722, I had hoped they would address the single OTA tuner limitation and add a larger hard drive amongst a few other things. Who cares about VOD. They should have called this receiver the 622.01 .Still one OTA tuner, same everything else.
How about the SD up converting feature?
This is just great Now im going to have customers asking about the 722 on the Dishstore, and not a peep from Dish about availability
I'm waiting for a dual HD output receiver. Seems like that wouldn't be too difficult. I'm tired of having to watch SD on my other HD set.
But not before promising they would enable it for the 622.

Like the ViP622 DVR, the ViP722 DVR
receiver has a TV1/TV2 Agile modulated
output so viewers at the distant
location(s) can choose between two
modulated channels to view either TV1
or TV2 programming. While in Dual
Mode, these distant viewers can tune to
either television channel to watch TV1’s
programming or TV2’s programming.
is this a new feature?
It's black. And I imagine that to fix the HDMI connector, they had to change the layout of the system board, so they gave it a new number to avoid confusion in the logistics department....If this new recorder doesnt have more storage space then whats the point?

does the 622 allow TV1 and TV2 to be distributed over existing Coax on different channels (Like TV1-60 & TV2-65) or is this a new feature?

Ya that would be nice but I don't see the big deal, 3 tuners all together is nice. How many tuners do you really need?
When I first read bigger hard drive, I got excited. But 30 hours of HD is 30 hours, just what I have now. And I too don't care about VOD. I don't think I'll be an early adopter on this one. I certainly am not going to pay $300 for the privilege of dishing it up like I did on the 622.
Maybe in a year though, since by then my 622 will be 2 years old, and will probably need to be retired anyway.
