Finally, an Android tablet worth seriously considering

Unless Google made for Samsung and exception, it won't have Market access. But this shouldn't really matter, I think...

Although I have no practical use for a tablet, I probably would still buy one, just not one made by Apple. Apple products don’t impress me one bit and I don’t want to be a part of ‘that’ culture. When I got rid of the iPhone I washed my hands with that company for good. And I also don’t want to be restricted and fall victim to teh Steve’s trap. I love Android and would love to get an Android tablet, but two things come into play, I’m not the biggest fan of Samsung electronics and I do not like their TouchWiz overlay at all, provided they plan to use it on the Tabs, and at 7”, my Evo is 4.3” I don’t see two and a quarter inches being that much more useful.

Give me a ~10” Android Tablet made by HTC and I’d be all over it and also for Sprint, put a wimax radio in it, and I’ll pay any monthly fee you want me to.

I have played with the Ipad, and it is awesome.
I can imagine the android tab being better for some though. I love my milestone, this tab has potential. I do not see it at what it offers over a typical phone though at the price. Not at the screen size.
I may change my mind using one though.

At the size, I can get a netbook or small laptop that will do almost as much and be more usable. Like I said, I need to see it. Price seems high though.

I do wish the prices on these things were more reasonable. But I know I am in trouble when I wake up in the middle of the night and realize I was dreaming I was using a tablet. My wife better lock down the checking account!

(I am still torn too... so hard to wait until the second generation of stuff).

Also been thinking more about this whole 10" vs 7" issue." Basically the Galaxy has the same form factor and size of the Kindle 3, but with the majority of it going to screen. Compared with a Droid 1, the screen real estate is going to be huge, and should be extremely readable. Also realized it comes in at 380 g compared to the 290 g of the Kindle (basically kindle weighs 10 oz. and the Galaxy weighs 13 oz.

Time will tell, when I can actually try one, but the size just feels right.

btw, sprint will release a netbook and notebook on nov 14 too. i think price of netbook is free after 100 mail in rebate with a 2 year contract; 199 (?) after rebate for notebook, also with 2 year contract.

i'd be more inclined to buy the netbook as i think it would better serve my needs when i'm not home.

forgot, sprint customers can preorder the tablet at any corporate store. it will require a 50 dollar deposit, in the form of a sprint gift card.

Thats why I did a step up to a small ultraportable instead of the netbook. More power and still slim and small and easy to take with you.

The Dell ultraportable I inherited from my office fits that as well. It is slim, weighs little, but has a low-voltage duo core processor, just not a lot of ram. For travel, when I need to make presentations, it is perfect.

I got a Toshiba about 4 months ago. For what I use it for it is perfect and alot easier to carry on trips than my larger Dell Laptop.

MY interest in tablets or PCs is not tied to data plans. I can tether my droid to get internet when I need it, and the tablet would be used with wifi anyways.

its sold don. the person i bought it from (actually his wife) changed her mind and decided she wanted an ipad after all. so i sold it back to him and pre ordered the galaxy

Looking forward to your report then. I'll be in the market for a second ipad ( or current Android device) next year. I will wait for the second version of ipad, though. Hope it offers lots new stuff to dazzle me into buying. If not, I may just go for the Android. Not sure I'll like the smaller size though.
