FAST Channels added to DIRECTV Stream/Internet

  • Server Issues.

We are very aware that there have been system issues the past few days. In troubleshooting the system, it has been determined that the issue is at our provider and is hardware related. As of 12:05 PM ET our provider has moved us to a new server.

Things seem to be running better on this new server. However in trying to diagnose the issue (before finding out it was a hardware issue) we made some system changes which we need to undo. So if you find any issues or errors please let us know in the Operations Center Forum.

Thank you for your patience! Sorry for the issue!

Just helps with ease of having everything in one place and as a bonus we can record.
When the guide becomes an unmanageable mass of channels (more than it already is), you may rethink your appreciation of "everything in one place". I find the "watch next" feature of most streaming devices very helpful in keeping what I'm currently watching together.

Recording is relatively pointless unless you intend to watch the content repeatedly; especially if the recording can't be transferred.

The obvious reason to record is the ability to skip commercials. Most on-demand content eliminates fast-forward. This becomes even more problematic when you stop a program at the end of one day and want to pick up the following day. It's a crap shoot if you'll be able to forward to the point you wish to restart.

Many of the FAST channels also do binge-a-thons where they they reair an entire series 24/7, resulting in half of the show airing at an inconvenient overnight time.

As for new channels, they are still testing 4194 Speedvision, and after the holiday break another sports channel recently appeared in the test feed range where they test out random channels before they are assigned a dedicated feed, so they might be preparing for another batch soon.

A great argument when allowed by the content owner.

Most self-respecting streaming apps keep track of where you are in a particular episode and offer a shortcut to go directly there. The better apps can keep track of this information for multiple viewers.
