Hey guys, this is my first time on here and I'm in a bind.

I am in college and my dad ordered an extra receiver for us to use tailgating. Well, he took the upgrade and we have the VIP622 and bought a Dish 1000 dish and tripod. We decided to set it up at our house to make sure it all worked. The guy who installed the new receiver gave us the install book with all the codes and stuff. I am in a different zip code and went through and made the changes but still cant seem to pick up and signal. The pole is level and I made the adjustments on the dish.

I dont know if anyone could actually help me on here but i dont know what else to do.

My zip code is 30117 if anyone has any input.

Thanks
David

Ok, this should work: Making sure your mast is absolutely vertical find the direction you're supposed to use. Make sure both the skew and elevation match what the receiver indicates for your ZIP code.

Standing behind the dish turn it 15 - 20 degrees left of the target.

Now when you s-l-o-w-l-y turn it right you should pick up some satellites. If you don't see any - right or wrong or unknown, something is busted.

Try check switch and see if the receiver can see the 3 LNBs. When you tell the folks here the results of that test, and whether or not you see ANY satellite, they will have more suggestions.

I install my dish with a tripod all the time. I have an RV and move around a lot when I am traveling. Set the elevation and sweep back and forth the 15-20 degrees as suggested. Then lower or raise the elevation a degree (one line on the setting ), then sweep back and forth again, Do the one degree at a time and when you get down five degrees, then return the elevation to the suggested setting and then sweep back and forth again going in the other direction on the elevation one degree at a time. You should get a signal before finishing. Oe something must be busted.

For tailgating you picked the hardest form of portable system 3 satellite dish and a HDTV DVR. Now if that is for a dorm room on the cheap it sounds like a nice setup. But you still need a clear line of sight to the three satellites.

Ya its for our "cottage" at school. We're not supposed to have dishes but they went with comcast who doesn't offer HD in this area... 43 anolog channels look prettý bad on a 56" dlp...

The lnb only has one coax hooked up to it... Is this the problem?
