Everyone Else But DISH!!!

Somehow the other providers mange to do it. Do they charge more? Sometimes I think Charlie has seen the future and it doesn't speak English; if you lookat all the what seem to me to be overpriced foreign language packages available from DISH.

I think that one reason that Dish offers so much international programming is to diffirentiate their product from their competition. I could care less about it myself, but for those who have immigrated to the United States, I am sure that it is nice to have some familar programming available to them, if they choose to pay for it. It is something that not every multichannel provider offers and I think that Dish sees it is as a way to attract customers that might otherwise go elsewhere.

If it is ever "on sale" as Charlie thinks it is too expensive (mostly the cost of the required MLB Network), and he is probably right as Dish does not have the deep pockets of all his mega-media competitors who have that kind of money in the pockets of their sofas. This is why Dish's financials are so good and he can afford to buy a company once in a while. If Charlie spent like his competitors, the banks would've owned Dish a long time ago. He wants MLB, but not at the cost of the company. If it won't work out on the spreadsheet, Charlie won't do it. He is very disciplined in that and has never spent beyond his means just because some subs want it, and when one considers how well Dish is doing without MLB (stock price at a 52 week high and increased profits even with slippage in subscriber numbers), it just affirms Charlie is right in saying, "not at that price, MLB."

How deep are a BILLIONAIRE'S pockets? Probably deeper than yours or mine. Why are you apologizing for a billionaire?

Everyone is well aware that no matter who u have for TV services it will always change people switch from Comcast to dish or to direct everyday so no matter what anybody does there will still be somebody that is never happy and changes to the next person it is a never ending cycle it will always be the same

If they add it, I hope it's a la carte somehow, or only in the top tier or a special sports pkg. Why should my bill go up for some high ticket channel I'll never watch?
I know, same old argument. Rinse, lather, repeat.

+1 for that. Not everyone here is a baseball fan so to me DISH should just put it in Multi-Sport Package. (If they ever decide to carry it)

I think the point of my topic is being missed. Everyone else but DISH has the MLB network. DISH, along with most others carries the NHL Network, NBATV, Golf Channel, NFL, NFL RZ, Tennis Channel, Horce Racing channels, Fuel, Outdoorsman, and Sportsman which cover every single sport out there except america's past-time. You make me pay $7.00 a month for the Red Zone in the fall, why not try it for a year with MLB. At least give it a go for a year ........

Maybe it's time that dish rethinks their strategies. It's obviously not working out. The thing I hate is the fact that dish is so hard headed that they won't listen to good customers. Stop blowing people off! There is a very good reason why your loosening subs!

Like Dtv's attitude in blowing their customers off not adding the 30 HD channels that DISH and just about every other provider has except Dtv.

Give it about 3 months. I think d* has gotten the message. Case in point Truetvhd.

I think that part of the reason that DirecTv added TruTV in HD had to do with the NCAA playoffs, not much just adding TruTV for the programming.

My response from DISH when I made the inquiry.... I guess they would rather me give MLB $120 for the season than DISH...

Dear Mr. Jirka,

Thank you for taking the time to contact us. Dish Network understands your concerns. DISH Network will not be carrying MLB Extra Innings, the out of market baseball package, and MLB Network this season. The demands made by MLB were not in the best interest of our customers. Fortunately, you can still receive baseball games all season long on ESPN, FOX, Regional Sports Networks, Superstations and local networks.

You can still continue to receive access to Major League Baseball programming on other DISH Network channels such as ESPN, Regional Sports Networks, and local networks that carry Major League Baseball today. You can also enjoy MLB EXTRA INNINGS online at MLBTV.com

The details about available packages and what MLB.com offers is below:

2 levels of packaging

MLB TV Online Package

Offers enhanced audio/video

Monthly - $15, Entire Season - $90

MLB TV Online Premium Package

Customers can view TV quality picture online

Monthly - $20, Entire Season - $120

are u sure? maybe their customers just really wanted to watch "operation repo" or "hardcore pawn" and the boys fro lizard lick in HD.

Everyone keeps saying "why doesnt dish just carry it and sell it "ala carte". There are many reasons as to why not. First is, perhaps the MLB wont let it be sold that way and requires dish to put it in a slandered line up since we dont carry IE.

And even if they did, do you really think that the ala carte fee of 7-10 bucks from each subscriber will even come close to covering what MLB wants for that channel if they did allow it that way? It is for sure the price would have to be subsidized from revenue from non-subscribing customers.

It no different then how my local bar wont keep NewCastle Beer on tap for me. Yes, they would only be charging those who drink it, but there is not enough demand from those who would to make it profitable to keep on tap. If they wanted to charge 20 bucks a draft to make it profitable to the handful that does want it, that handful would pass on it anyways at that price. And they are not about to up the price of budweiser to subsidize the cost.

I wasn't objecting to it. Just making an observation. My impression is that the pricing for the foreign language is a bit steep though. But people are willing to pay it.

Isnt the NCAA playoff games programming? This is the charlie mentality with sports that it isnt programming! :D Seriously, Its been said and widely reported that TruTV will be launching on D* later this year. While, they said the same about HBO, I dont think they would have launched it in HD for the NCAA games if a deal wasn't in place. I dont see MLB HD coming to dish unless they agree to carry MLB Extra innings. Does Uverse have MLBEI?
