ESPN Yanks Unflattering Lebron James story

Perhaps I'm guilty of being naive, but in all fairness, prior to "The Decision", the media has done a disservice in disclosing the "real LeBron". The media as a whole and also the owner ignored his antics until he turned his back on them. Now, it's amazing at all the stuff that's coming out. Now, we're finding out who the the real LeBron really is and it's not too flattering.

i figured that out on day one. but then the media has been kissing his backside for far too many years.

and espeon should be ashamed of themselves. they have become the worldwide leader in tabloid sports journalism!!

Well, there was plenty of hints in Cleveland. BUT the team, the fan ignored those flags and the owner did not want to embarrass themselves by bringing them out to the light. He is no different than a Randy Moss or a T.O. as far as being diva-ish. In Lebron's case....will all the media hype this guy has gotten, sooner or later the ugly side of him and those around him was gonna come out.

Cavs ownership has ALOT to do with all the hype and the Diva-saurus they help create.

Yeah, I agree. I guess as long as he was packing fans in the arena and we were winning games, it all got overlooked. Now? The floodgates are open and I expect more stories to unfold in the upcoming days, weeks, years.

ROFLMAO!!!

...."kettle, met pot..............."

...and of course the kettle pot response, the huge caps and the exclamation points. Par for the course.

And though I would not doubt that some will be true, do not be surprised if some are also fabricated or exaggerated. I assume most will come out from ownership, an ownership that has ALSO shown their true colors and will scare off some future free agents with that jilted love tirade. I am sure alot of players NOW on that team will be thinking, "damn, if I chose another team....will he say all that crap about me?".

EVERYONE understand the fans feelings and everyone feels for the fan of the Cavs....and they deserve better.

No they won't, because everyone knows it wasn't the "choosing another team" that tainted his image, it was the obnoxious and cruel way he did it.

Good point. What kind of crap did the owner say about Ilgauskas? ;)

OK.....that is your opinion. I think differently and that thought has been stated a couple of times by some that cover the NBA.

Dear Cleveland, All of Northeast Ohio and Cleveland Cavaliers Supporters Wherever You May Be Tonight;

As you now know, our former center, who we drafted in 1996 out of a region you probably never heard of, is no longer a Cleveland Cavalier.

This was announced after we traded him to the lowly Washington Wizards in February and waited for over 30 days for him to become eligible so we could re-sign him to a lowball offer.

Now, despite a several-day, narcissistic, self-promotional buildup culminating with a national TV special of our former King’s “decision” unlike anything ever “witnessed” in the history of sports and probably the history of entertainment, the self-proclaimed “Big Z” is taking his act to South Beach as well.

Clearly, this is bitterly disappointing to all of us.

The good news is that the ownership, team, and the rest of the hard-working, overpaid, overrated bums here at your hometown Cavaliers have not betrayed you nor NEVER will betray you, because frankly, we can't.

It's hard to gain trust when you stink.

There is so much more to tell you about the events of the recent past and our more than dismal future.

Over the next several days and weeks, we will be communicating much of that to you.

You simply don’t deserve this kind of cowardly betrayal.

You have given so much and deserve so much more.

In the meantime, I want to make one statement to you tonight:

“I PERSONALLY GUARANTEE THAT THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS WILL WIN AN NBA CHAMPIONSHIP BEFORE THE SELF-TITLED FORMER ‘BIG Z’ WINS ONE.”

You can take it to the bank.

If you thought we were motivated before tonight to bring the hardware to Cleveland, I can tell you that this shameful display of selfishness, piggybacking, and betrayal by one of our very own has shifted our “motivation” to previously unknown and previously never experienced levels.

Some people think they can win a title but NOT have to play here to get one.

Sorry, but that’s simply not how it works.

This shocking act of disloyalty from our own drafted “Big Z” sends the exact opposite lesson of what we would want our children to learn. And “who” we would want them to grow up to become.

But the good news is that this heartless and callous action can only serve as the antidote to the so-called “curse” on Cleveland, Ohio.

The self-declared former “Big Z” will be taking the “curse” and his slow-footed post moves, lack of defense, and the speed of a paper clip with him down South.

And until he does “right” by Cleveland, Ohio, and Lithuania, Ilgauskas (and the town where he plays) will unfortunately own this dreaded spell and bad karma.

Just watch.

Sleep well, Cleveland.

Tomorrow is a new and much brighter day…

I PROMISE you that our energy, focus, capital, knowledge, and the bums that disappear in the playoffs on our remaining roster will be directed at one thing and one thing only:

DELIVERING YOU the championship you have long deserved and is long overdue…

Sincerely pissed off

Dan Gilbert

Dan Gilbert's Open Letter to Zydrunas Ilgauskas (Satire) | Bleacher Report

What do you mean "you think differently"? How do you know what Cleveland fans have the most beef with? You're very removed from the eye of the storm to have any sort of idea don't you think?

While I may not represent every fan in this entire city, I do have a pretty good gauge of the way the majority feels and it's a fact, it was the WAY he left that we're most pissed about, not the simple fact that he just left. If he did it honorably, we would have much less of an issue. That I can assure you.

I think differently as so have other reports that Gilbert's crybaby tirade will impact future free agents and has made some players think on that team about IF/WHEN they leave.

That is what I meant by "I think differently".....

That's what people said about George Steinbrenner, after he was convicted of hiring Howie Spira to investigate Dave Winfield, his own player at the time...George will never attract free agents again.

He really struggled to get people to take his money after that.

Money talks. Write that down. In ink. ;)

Was Gilbert's letter a bit dramatic and extreme? Sure. Did it capture what each and every Cleveland Cavalier fan was thinking at that very moment? You betcha! PR wise, he got poked fun at nationally, but the diehard Cleveland fans absolutely loved the letter.

I look at it like this: Dan Gilbert is a passionate owner that cares and isn't afraid to voice his opinion or spend money to make this team better. I will take that any day of the week over the dopey tight wad Dolan that owns the Tribe.

LMAO!!! And you think Steinbrenner is the ONLY owner that has hired a PI to investigate players??!! Really?

After George has lost a free agent, when was the last time George went full media blitz to put down his prized player for going to another team? Send a letter to the fans, going to ANY reporter that will listen and going into full jilted lover roll?

George didn't give a sh** because he knew good players are a dime a dozen to him...and if he missed on a free agent one year, he would get another one on another year.

And you are comparing playing for the most prized professional team in all of sports....and the Cleveland Cavs......really? LOL!!

Sorry.....not apples and oranges....but apples and cement blocks....;)

And Mark Cuban is just as passionate, if not MORE than Gilbert. Do not remember going jilted lover for the world to see when he didn't sign someone or lost someone....

No one can compare the situation because no one has EVER gotten embarrassed on a national stage the way LeBron embarrassed the city of Cleveland and the Cavs organization.
