Louisville local channel say U on Dish by Saturday !

EspnU has become a hot topic as they grabbed the UL-USF game this Saturday as part of the Big East contract. This kept the local channel from televising as an away game. It's not on the national scale, but people are going nuts here. Local cable refuses to deal with Espn (Insight is getting deluged with calls), as well as Dish. Local news last night reported that Dish will carry U by Saturday :D

UL-USF...You wanna tell me who the hell we're talking about...=)>

Outside of kentucky, this isn't really a hot topic...

I would GUESS that this would be the U of Louisville vs. U of South Florida game that takes place this Sat evening. Great natational attention grabber but if it helps to get ESPNU to DISH then it is a game I want to see!

Espn-u Plays Hardball With Local Cable Co

haha. This story is pretty funny about ESPN's strongarm tactics of getting MSOs to carry their channels..

http://www.whas11.com/uofl/stories//WHAS11_TOPSTORY_ESPN-U.7f01e246.html

WHAS 11 has tried through all of Wednesday to speak with ESPN-U. The company has declined interviews sending only statements. Both WHAS and Insight have asked for some sort of simulcast.

ESPN-U said no.

But in the past, the ESPN family has made exceptions. ESPN-U told us if Insight does not pick up its channel permanently there is no chance U of L's game at South Florida will be seen on cable.

"On Wednesday night, Terry Burnett of Terry's Satellite City says on Thursday Dish Network will add ESPN-U to its line up giving Cards fans a second option to watch the game."

Maybe we should invite Terry onto the board to reveal his inside sources :) Ahem, scott??? :D

I have been hearing so many start dates its not funny. I have also heard some heavy buzzing of ESPN2 which would be carried on 148, 61.5 and 129, however these plans seem to be in the air now as it appears that Dish is uplinking ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX in HD in the space where ESPN-2 was supposed to go.

I am not complaigning though, I think Dish has an exciting fall in store for us, and to me thats a good thing.

I sure hope he didn't make an ass of himself by reading the rumor here. :D

But then if it does come true good for him and us :)

LOL thats what I first thought when I read his statement.. Oh boy this dude saw something that said ESPN-U would be carried, but failed to see the 30-45 days part. For his sake I hope hes right, there might not be a Terrys Satellite City after that town is done with him hehe.

Scott, I hope ESPN2 comes before the locals :)

Do you know how many news orginizations come to SatelliteGuys every day just looking for news to re report. :)

As I have said before but will say it again now, read the new first at SatelliteGuys (Or read it elsewhere a day or two later) :D

Well whatever they do they need to put the channels where most of their HD Subscribers can get them. With MPEG4 due out next year they folks with Dish 500 should be able to get all of the HD plus Voom without any issues. Right now folks are spending money on extra dish's or bigger one's like the 1000. When in the near future you should only need one dish to get what you need to get! :)

I live in KY, and cant belive all the talk about this UofL game being on the ESPN-U channel. But I was just checking out whas11.com the local Louisville news station and they have this posted on there site now. Reporting that it should already be broadcasting on channel 148. I just checked and if its broadcasting my receiver hasn't got the channel updates.

WHEN: Louisville vs. South Florida

DISH Network Channel 148

Interesting, since there is still no channel uplinked, unless they are just gonna place it on an alteranate...

It's not like dish to launch a channel and immediatly turn it over to customers

Its a total mess right now, insight is the cable company here, and they are basically saying, that they refuse to carry the espn-u channel, and that they dont understand why the game is not going to be on like espn or espn 2. Its a total mess. If I hear anything else about ESPN-U coming to dish network I will post it.

As of 1:40pm there is no ESPN-U uplinked to 110/119. I bet it will be in the next two days, or they will just change one of the ESPN-As to ESPN-U for the time being.

Thanks U of L people for making Dish carry this channel!!! :)

It's uplinked now .. just as predicted and reported .. at ch 148, 110 sat.. Not available yet.. (but to be available soon .. or before that Saturday's game at the latest.. i guess)
