ES XXV Satellite - Maxar and DISH

When the Hopper disc gets full I thought that it would delete the oldest recordings unless you had the recordings protected. Thus it should always be able to record unless you have specified that the recordings are protected.
If this is not the case why does the timer settings have an option to protect?
I have never tested this since with external hard drives plus deleting programs I don’t need to keep I have never run out of storage.

If it worked correctly but many times, the disk % meter is incorrect and can show a lower number when in reality, it is already full as seen in this thread:
As the thread mentions, sometimes the Hopper is extremely slow at responding like when you click on a show on the DVR, it could not show the recordings after you select one but won't show the recordings under that title.

I mean it would help if the external storage has folders, not to mention external storage cannot be accessed by things like Dish Anywhere. I delete programs but I am recording like 10-12 hours daily.

One other thing I can think of, Multiview used to work, but now it's extremely sensitive as it will cause the box to restart.

I'm a tech, I understand how and why the red light works. Just don't see the need for it. Once you set something to record there's no need to worry about it. I've never once thought to myself while watching TV, "I wonder if it's currently recording that other show" lol. Maybe it's just a younger generation thing, i don't know
Definitely not a younger generation thing (unless people in their 50s is still considered young ;)).

In my case, my wife and I watch NASCAR racing. Many times, the races are delayed until the next day due to weather or darkness. The network carrying the race will state that the race will be on the next day at a certain time, but the guide obviously doesn't know that yet. Even though I have timers set up to record all NASCAR events, unless the guide gets updated (by who knows who), our race won't get recorded. I will typically then set up to record whatever regularly scheduled shows are during that time period. I have actually had situations where the guide will then get updated, but the Hopper 3 will look at the program in the guide as a "repeat" show, and will then skip the event. If I had a red light (like I had on my original Hopper), I could tell at just a glance that it has picked up the event and is recording. However, without the red light, I'm forced to turn on the system just to see if it is. And this is just one example of why it would be nice to have the red light. There have been others...

I meant younger generation as in only the younger ppl (35 and under) don't care about the red light lol.

I'm probably one of the few that likes the clock on the front of an STB like the Motorola DVR boxes.

I had that box with Comcast before the X1, hated that thing.

Amazed at how far we have come since then, do not even need a box for some services and that **** fee every month.

No, it does not blink and you can't set the clock as it's the time sent over the network so either it will show the channel number or the current time which also would do the daylight savings time on it's own similar to how the time on a mobile phone works.
I was of course mostly joking-but you did take the picture at the infamous 12:00-which is normally the default time when you plug a VCR in or after it loses power.

I am being told what I said here is being questioned at another site.

I can only report what I was told in the past by people from the company.

When is the last time any of those guys sat with anyone from Dish? Any of their engineers or even the CEO.? When has anyone from the satellite companies posted there? When is the last time they helped test or reported on a new product?

They are a bunch of arm chair quarter backs who have any idea of what they are talking about and unfortunately they give people bad advice for their problems. There is a reason hardly anyone goes to that site anymore.

While things have been quiet in The satellite world I think very very soon you will see the world of satellite getting a lot more busier here at SatelliteGuys it the world of satellite. And it will show everyone again why are “Americas Satellite Information Source!”

Stay tuned!

Scott I feel like I have known of you at Dish events for decades! I fully understand you are entrusted with things we may never know. I trust you will let us know things as you can.

Sadly, and now embarrassingly I have felt Dish might let its satellite service dwindle down and move to a more streaming service. My thoughts where the birds are aging out soon, cord cutters are becoming more and more popular especially with the younger generations, birds are expensive, and Dish has been very quiet.

As a rural customer I am so grateful for Dish continued efforts to ensure we will continue to have service by satellite. I started with Dish from the very beginning and will see it to my end.

And you Scott are not told enough how grateful we are for your years of dedication. THANK YOU!

I know and I wouldn't blame you for thinking that way. I was trying to find a picture online of the boxes which are 64xx models but some have the display off, some have the channel and this was the only picture that had the clock on it.

Did you forget the subject of this thread is about the new satellite Dish just ordered? ;)

No??? I was replying to Scott's comments. And that part you highlighted was referring to that I also felt Dish may not upgrade/replace their fleet of satellites. The original topic was Dish ordering a new/replacement satellite???

I am obviously missing something here. I have been extremely exhausted, and it was 3am after benge watching the end of the Packard series.
