Have called dish, they say they need the error code. As nicely as I can say, as I am so upset. It is not a blue code. My Tv screen goes black. In the center it wants a software upgrade, not the normal 3am stuff. It says cancel, where it is highlighted, and like continue or accept. It is frozen on cancel, remote dead, receiver buttons dead, other than hard reboot. There is a code, left center of screen like 00101070. They say, we need the exact code. I said upper tech support please, they give me a super. He is more lame than the book reader at first tech. I said pass me up to upper echelon, will not do it.

This happens every single day. I have went as far as factory resets, unplugged, hard reboot or pull the power is all that will work. I am so tired of missing 10 minutes if recording while it does this. I have had dn for over 14 years. So now I have to await it to freeze to or row to give lower tech support a code they certainly will not grasp at all, they do not even acknowledge the black, not blue screen..

Another day, the receiver is hitting the ground hard, but then again, since the VIP 722 has come out, they have replaced it four times, the latest this summer. God I have DTV, but I am beside myself. No fix, guess I will move to co cast...

You guys know the answers, I know one od you does

I would give constructive advice but I honestly can't follow what you wrote.

Would it be possible to get a picture of the message? Do you notice any of the lights on the front of the receiver changing when this happens? When the message shows up, and you unplug the receiver, does the message also go away, or does it stay up? Would it be possible that this is your TV asking for a software update?

On just about all of the messages we have, we do put a 3-digit code in the top-right corner. When this message shows up next time, try using your TV remote (not dish remote).

I had that; got a replacement receiver and that fixed it. Notice I do not say NEW receiver as caller ID does not work on this one but dish says that is a added feature that does not qualify as a bad satellite box. I figure I will upgrade someday and that will fix it.

If you'd like to replace this receiver to get the caller ID to work PM me with your account number and I will be able to take care of that for you.
