Coolsat HD receivers get the dvb-s2 h246 fine. If your dish is 8ft or smaller, forget about this signal.
CSB will convert their distribution from dvb to dvb-s2 8psk soon, those with 6ft will be left in the dark when they cease the dvb services...those with 8ft will have tought time to lock on dvb-s2 csb too.
Those watching lot of CBS, better save $ for larger dish..., you will probably need the $ for upgrading later this year

My dish is ready for just about anything at 12 feet. I just have to see what will work best for what I want to watch with decent prices when I do my next upgrade.

Has anyone tried the DVBWorld card or USB box to receive the RTN DVB-S2 signals? The DVB card is currently not in stock, but will be available locally for me in a couple of days from a local reseller (according to their email when I inquired about one) for CAN $90.00

I do not use the BDA driver, so neither works and I hate switching drivers when things work for me.

It does work with ProgDVB Pro, but a little buggy. I actually helped him fix a bug with it in regards to AC3, it would not work at all till I sent him a sample of what was going wrong.

The reason I am asking is that I haven't ever played with TSReader much, and am not much into stream analysis so a working TV watching program is what works for me more than anything else.

I was about to buy the visionsat, but it doesn't support DVB-S2, so I'll hold off. It was mentioned that the Equity channels will be going to DVB-S2. Is this referring to C band, Ku band or both?

From this thread, it sounds like whether C or Ku, it will be harder to pick up with smaller dishes. For example, my 31" will not be able to pick up the Ku DVB-S2 signals. Is this correct?

equity to S2=ALL, according to our man in the know, Gary of Unreliable Sources fame.
But I believe his info IS a reliable source on this subject, since there are C-band feeds already
S-2 frm Equity.

The BDA drivers work with both DVBDream and MyTheatre. I can lock the Equity DVB-S2 mux using both. But MyTheatre does not support H.264. DVBDream works fine.

I take your questions as "8psk trellis", the answer is no. Don't be confused 8psk dvb-s2.
DVB-s2 can be qpsk, 8psk...same as dc2 can be qpsk, 8psk.
None of the consumer dvb receivers/pic on the market is able to pull in 8psk trellis.

I'd previously posted this in WUT, but didn't get any feedback:

I remember seeing a thread (or post) by Gary/GAS asking for folks to test different dish sizes.
(...or maybe that he was going to get some pros to test 'em...)
And I remember that somehow he (?) came to the conclusion that 6-foot should work for us.
I've searched six ways from Sunday and not been able to find that thread.
Don't tell me I dreamed it! -

I thought he disclosed the FEC, too, but in my searches I didn't find that answer, either.

So . . . where's that thread?

Why is a bigger dish necessary?
Is DVB-S2 considerably lower power?


Any idea when Equity will start switching over? I know they have a few already, but I don't know if they are new or have made the switch.

Some people (like me) use it as a dual purpose rig. My htpc is just that, a home theatre and personal computer. I use it for both. My 42" sony lcd is my monitor and I run everything with a cordless gyration mouse/keyboard combo, a twinhan 1020a and skystar 2 in pci slots and the usb Skywalker all working nicely.....couch potato heaven!

Same here... My HTPC has one turbo 8PSK, one Twinhan QPSK(not used much), 3 QAM/ATSC tuners with about a TB of storage. BeyondTV runs the tuners...best DVR PC software I've seen hands down!

The PC is only hooked up to the 57inch but I've got one of those gyration air mouse keyboard combo's for gaming on the big screen.

this is the keyboard Ive got, its really great. uhf and has a joystick mouse built in.

the keyboard is like a laptop keyboard, small and compact, very light, and I get about 6 months on two AA batteries.
