Equator HD journeys to Peru

NEWS BRIEF: Equator HD in the US will premiere Journeys of the Heart: Peru, a nine-part documentary that covers the challenges, successes and failures of adventurous volunteers who travel to Cuzco in Peru to work at an orphanage for deaf children.

"We wanted to open our viewers' eyes to how different and difficult people's lives can be in many parts of the world," said William Roberts, VP of programming at the Voom HD Networks channel, which claims to explore the world's most intriguing people and places.

"Journeys of the Heart: Peru documents the challenges faced by some of the world's most marginalised citizens, but it also reminds us that every single person can make a difference."

Drew Fleming, the creator and executive producer of the series, a coproduction between Equator HD and integrated marketing firm Concrete Pictures, said: "These were ordinary people who put their lives on hold for a tough yet rewarding six weeks. They bought their own plane tickets, went down to improve the lives of these disabled children, and ended up changing themselves forever."
