The Edison wouldn't see my 16 Gb USB stick. I had a text file named backupstick.txt as per the displayed instructs and my stick was formatted to NTFS.
Reformatted to FAT32 and instead created a subdirectory named backupstick.
It worked. Backup plugin took about 3 minutes.
The problem with changing two parameters means I don't know which made it work.

I use FAT32 formatting for image thumbdrives, but had been told by an E2 knowledgeable person that NTFS worked as well.

I've always used fat32 for small thumb drives but I don't even use the thumb drive anymore. Now I use an ext.HDD and just FTP the backup over to my laptop from PLI based images Media/usb/fullbackup_osmio4k or OE images Media/hdd/images or imagebackups. The transfer takes a little time but not bad.
