The EchoStar XVII satellite will launch on Thursday, July 5 from the Guiana Space Center European Spaceport in Kourou, French Guiana, and you can watch it LIVE, online on any device at www.echostar.com/launch as well as live on DISH Network channel 101!

The live broadcast will begin at 3 p.m. MT, with the actual launch window scheduled for 3:36 – 4:05 PM (launch window is subject to change).

Once the satellite, built for Hughes Network Systems by Space Systems/Loral, successfully achieves orbit and completes in-orbit testing, it will provide HughesNet Gen4 high-speed Internet service to consumers and small businesses throughout North America using EchoStar’s Emmy-winning spot beam technology. EchoStar XVII weighs more than 7,000 pounds, was assembled using more than 50,000 screws and has a wingspan of 130 feet when fully deployed.

This isn't the satellite that I need to put the hex on the launch to keep from losing my conus locals, is it? Just for HughesNet internet? :)

Not to disagree with our wonderful site owner, but might this be better in the broadband forum, as this is exclusively for Hughesnet and does not help Dish at all?

Having it here got me wondering why the speed up from September, then I noticed the extra "I".

Still, fun to see an Ariane rocket after so many Protons in a row.

Launch canceled. They had to sell the satellite to pay for a load of Rokus! :D

Let's hope all goes well. Did they ever determine for sure what caused the solar array deployment failure on an earlier launch of this model satellite?

I never gave a rats behind about any sat launch other than this 1. I am so looking forward to this & pray all goes well.
