Echostar 16 Launch - November 20 2012

EchoStar 16 has been successfully loaded with fuel and now proceeds to assembly with the Brize M/Proton launch system.

Echostar 16 Launch Time has been set:

Ignition: 1:31 PM Eastern Standard Time, November 20, 2012

+ 00:02:00 Proton 1/2 stage separation
+ 00:05:27 Proton 2/3 stage separation
+ 00:05:47 Payload Fairing Separation
+ 00:09:42 Breeze M Separation
+ 00:11:16 1st Stage Breeze Igniton
+ 01:07:43 2nd Stage Breeze ignition
+ 03:28:06 3rd Stage Breeze Ignition
+ 03:40:01 4th Stage Breeze Separation
+ 08:54:20 5th Stage Breeze Separation
+ 09:12:00 Echostar 16 Separation ********** 10:43 PM Eastern Standard Time

Echostar 16 will then be moved into geostationary orbit at 67W for testing. Figure a couple of weeks to complete that move. When testing is complete, it will be moved to it's permanent location at 61.5W.

Press Release (Auto Translate) [h=2]Baikonur: start assembling the spacecraft "EchoStar-16" from the block "Breeze-M"[/h]11/08/2012
Baikonur is scheduled preparations for the launch of a space rocket "Proton-M" with a U.S. telecommunications satellite "EchoStar-16» / EchoStar-16 made "Space Systems / Loral» / Space Systems Loral (USA) at the request of the North American satellite operator EchoStar .

Today, in the assembly and testing of the complex 92-A50 professionals Khrunichev. Khrunichev engineers and "Space Systems / Loral 'started assembling the ascent of" Proton ". During the day, will install the spacecraft to the upper stage "Briz-M". After completion of installation experts will dock mechanical and electrical connections between the spacecraft and the upper stage.

Starting ILV "Proton-M" with the satellite communication "EchoStar-16" is planned for the second half of November. The contract for the use of the Russian carrier rocket "Proton" to launch the satellite EchoStar-16 entered the company International Launch Services Inc. (ILS).

Could you translate, please:confused:.

More power = less signal fade = less error correction needed = more room for video

They previously ran 2/3 error correction looks like they will do 3/4 on some feeds resulting in 48 mbits of video instead of 42.

Continue to prepare for the launch of the spacecraft "EchoStar-16."
12/11/2012
Last weekend, in the assembly and test complex 92A-50 Baikonur Russian and foreign experts have completed the assembly of the space head (SHM) of a space rocket "Proton-M" intended to launch an American satellite "EchoStar-16."
Work was carried out on installation fairing and held the final electrical inspection of the ascent.
Today the space head end was brought to the hall for 111 Mikal assembly carrier rocket "Proton-M".
In the coming days, after docking with the space payload launch vehicle will be carried out necessary checks and electrical installation on the head of a space rocket protective termochehla.

7 day to launch - Nov 20- and this will be a big one.

This will be the most powerful and sophisticated satellite in the Dish/Echostar fleet with up to 71 spot beams and a Conus beam.

Why does the post before this one mention 12/11/2012? I assume the launch is set for 11/20 as it has been for a while.

European style dates go day/month/year (kinda makes sense going smallest to largest division). 12/11/2012 in Europe is 11/12/2012 to us backwards Americans, the day the press release came out.

Dumb question.

I notice Mobile, Al (my market) is on the list for this satellite. I have an install set for 11/23, does it matter at this point whether they use a WA or an EA setup?

61.5W is eastern arc. One must be careful in predicting coverage. They will probably only use 50 or so of the available 71 spots and just because they have the capability of providing local service from a given spot does not mean they will do so.
