Wondering, what is the fate of E3, is it going to be de-orbited or is it going to the 148 slot to live out it's final days?
It will be interesting to see how they test this. I'm sure nelson61 can speak more on this, thought the uplink beams for E15 were designed for Cheyenne and Gilbert. I don't think the other regional uplinks used for E12 work for CONUS E15.
Dish has not filed anything with the FCC to move E-3 but I would think the only other slot it would be moved to is 77 W. It would not be surprising if Dish left E-3 active at 61.5 W at least until E-16 is launched and operational at 61.5 W in late 2011 or early 2012. This is because E-15 can provide only 19 TPs in triple power mode or all 32 TPs in double power mode or certainly a mixture of both. E-12 can use 12 TPs for spotbeams and 1 TP for CONUS coverage but E-12 has had some power related failures so I don't think Dish will want use any of E-12's power for that 1 CONUS TP. So Dish could have E-3 provide 1 CONUS TP until E-16 is launched since E-3 problems have been power amplifier failures but it still has a number of them that are still working. If Dish did this, this one TP provided by E-3 would be at the same power as one is getting at 61.5 W now so Dish could put Public Interest or International Programming on it.
It has been speculated that E-15 will allow Dish to utilize more of the spotbeam capability of the E-12 satellite for additional locals. There will be additional CONUS capacity as well from E-15 and it has been speculated that Dish could add the entire suite of International programming to 61.5 W eliminating the need for a second Dish for EA customers.
What will this new 61.5 give ? They been getting people to move from it to 129 around here for months now so what gives? IMO they should now just add what is new from 129 to the new 61.5 so this migration doesn't have to happen since many users are still unable to get a LOS for 129 and locals are all on 110 or HD locals are all on 129.
Some DMAs are on both arcs, others are only on one. If you are fortunate to have both arcs available for your locals you should have a shot of having a clear shot to one or the other.
But, programming is the same between both arcs. Note that people with 110/119/61.5 are not on an arc, it is no longer a supported configuration and you will not get all the HD. I suppose you are in a market with HD locals on Western Arc 110/119/129, so people have to trade their 61.5 dish for 129 to get HD locals and all the HD channels. Other markets have to trade 110/119 for 72 & 77.
Switching?
Lots of "Off Air" HDs this morning on the 9000 range. Coincidentally they are all channels that I had trouble with. Could it be that they are moving those HD's to ES15? I sure hope so!

I noticed the following differences this morning when I checked my signal strengths for 61.5. Some of these changes may be statistically insignificant.
I realize the spotbeams (denoted with an asterisk) are not relevant, but transponders 16, 17, and 18 going from 0 to 40's and 50's is certainly an improvement. Also transponder 21 going from 41 to 66 seems significant. I don't know if any of this is relevant, but I thought I'd post it anyways.

Just went through a significant rain storm here in CT and did not experience rain fade on ESPN2 (144) 61.5 TP2. Signal went down to 18-22 during and is back to 46-49 now.
I know for sure it's happened during lesser storms, so: so far, so good!! :up

Does anyone know if this site is accurate? It says that E-15 is at 61.62 this morning. It is probably normal, I am Just curious, thanks

Dish has 3 satellites at the 61.5 location. E12 and E15 are being used and looks like E3 is hanging around as a spare for the moment. They have to be spaced apart a bit, so 2 of them will not be exactly on 61.5.
Thanks. It just struck me as odd that this Sat seemed to be staying pretty close to 61.5 but seems to "wander" a little at times, according to live real it is "now" at 61.59. I think I remember reading the the specs were plus or minus .5. I just find this all so very interesting
