I see there is a satellite launch set for December for Dishnetwork. Its called AMC-14. My questions are ,

This being a leased satellite ,does this have any effect to the programming if it wasn't leased?

Will this expand all HD programming?

Whats the difference between this satellite and E*11? (ex. HD locals only)

Will this satellite surpass D* HD programming, before D*11 is fully operational.

Hemi,

There is alot going on at Dish Network right now. Dish does plan on launching a new All MPEG4 service later this year or early Next year. Part of that plan hinges on that Satellite Launch as well as another.

All Dish International Programing will be moving VERY shortly from 148, 61.5 and 118.9 other locations. This will free up ALOT of bandwidth, this is to clear space for more HD before the new satellites get launched.

Since most of the new HD channels that are coming will not launch until early next year, Dish should have plenty of Bandwidth for most, if not ALL Launching HD this year and early Next.

I will not pretend to know whom (DirecTv or Dish Network) will have the most HD in the near future, but its likely both Companies will more or less have all the same HD channels as they are fighting hard right now to beat the Cable companies that in most cases don't EVEN COME CLOSE to matching DBSs' HD offerings.
