Little success story !!

Installed a ATSC Airstar card (HD5000AV) and with DVBviewer (3.5.0) can tune local OTA HD channels.

Also have Skystar2 card in the same computer, so I tune the satellite channels into the same channel list.

NOW I CAN SWITCH BETWEEN SAT CHANNELS AND OTA HD SEEMLESSLY !!!!!!!! Both devices are operated by DVBviewer at the same time.

How cool is that?

Good for you Jerry. Does it position the motor well? That is, if you have one? Trying to find software that moves the motor accurately without issues. Let me know if you can. Thanks!

Dvbviewer 3.5.121 (Beta) has USAL and raw diseqc control. I tried the raw diseqc with Skystar2 and Twinhan cards but raw ccommand are not working with these cards.

I have not tried the motor control yet.

This is a nice card Air2PC I read about it right at the above site, the price is right, and I guess I could add this in my Dreambox receiver project to add digital terrestrial broadcast TV (standard- and high-definition) the beauty of this card as well as the SkyStar 2 ver. 2.3P they both are well supported by both Windows and Linux…as for motor control from everything I read there is a plug in for windows for SkyStar 2, but I would rather use external power for the motor, instead of powering the motor using one of these cards ( still reading up on this issue - see the link below)

Skystar2's have the Best motor support of any DVB card by Mili's plugin SS2Diseqc1.9

Techinsat doesn't believe the card can handle the power requirement of a motor so they never supported a motor with their drivers until 4.4.0

The best thing to do is modify the motor with it's own power supply and everything works perfectly.

I created and wrote the "Positioner Heart Surgery" modification posted on the Mytheatre forum. Working great now for almost 2 years. I feed the motor with a 20 volt DC laptop computer regulated power supply.

FusionHDTV 3 Gold, is also an awesome HD card, I would give it higher marks then the Twinhan 3250 ATSC or Airstar HD5000AV. The "3 Gold" has two RF inputs, antenna (HD) and cable. The "3 Gold" also works with more software.

If you use Dvbviewer then Airstar works real nice, I had trouble getting the Airstar to scan all the local HD channels. Worked only after I entered the channels (PID's) manually.

Jerryt,

Why don’t you repost "Positioner Heart Surgery" from Mytheatre forum on here I am sure there are few people here that would be interested in that setup, I know I would be interested in all the details and perhaps few pictures…

I read about FusionHDTV 3 Gold card as well, but was not sure what features I really needed (seen no Linux support)...so I just skipped over till I get a better understanding about all the technology available for HDTV viewing…this card does not have Linux support or at least the manufacturer does not advertise that they are Linux ready…actually looks like MythTV supports this card…

I do not want to be stuck using Microsoft Windows only, so Air2PC is more attractive to me for the reason that you can use it with Linux and Windows…looks like I will have to do a little more reading on these cards…

It is easy to download from Mytheatre. (Download has pictures)

I don't know how to attach files to the Satelliteguy's website. Is it allowed?

I could PM it to you.
