Does anyone have a manual for this product in ENGLISH?

I have installed the software on my laptop, and I cannot figure out for the life of me how to get a signal. I have it hooked to the loop out of my Coolsat 5000. When I run the Nexstorm software it says "failure to init device."
Does it over and over. Yes, its plugged in, yes the Coolsat is on standby, there is NO setup screen, no satellite icon to click on like it says in the manual to set the damned thing up!

Either I am a dumbass or this thing is a POS.

I've reinstalled the software twice, I've unplugged and replugged the power and usb connection, did what you suggested in the connections menu and it shows connected.

I'm ready to throw the whole mess outside.

For all the talk about how good it is....how easy its supposed to be...hell aiming my dish was easier than this!

OKAY, I unlplugged everything and replugged it, computer says it need to install driver. I click okay to install driver, says its installing but is hung on that screen....:no

you know mine doesn't have a signal until i tell it to scan a satellite
and it is looped out from a coolsat 5k and coolsat power is on and it has signal
i just use the icon of the wrench to configure a satellite

I finally got it to work with my desktop computer, but the laptop will not work. When you install the drivers with the usb plugged in, it locks up. Unplug the USB cable, the drivers restart and install themselves, but after that it will not connect. Same error.

Thanks for the link, I am going to try that software...:up

And a half hour later....no dice. Still doesn't work. Now I have a USB box that has absolutely no use for what I wanted it for. :no

That's EXACTLY how it worked when it was hooked to my desktop computer, but the box will not talk to the laptop. The laptop has the s-video out, desktop doesn't. :)

I guess I could watch stuff on the PC monitor, but that's not what I bought it for...

Its going back. I tried to get it to work this afternoon and it locked my desktop up...the driver won't stay installed, everytime I plug the USB cable in it either reboots the PC or asks for the driver again. I envy you guys that it works for.

Went back today. Vendor assured me there was nothing wrong with it, I told him that may be so but it danged sure didn't work with either of my computers, the laptop OR the desktop. Last time I tried it on the desktop the second I plugged in the USB cable the computer spontaneously rebooted. He's going to give me store credit ( I actually asked for that because I want a new LNB or 2.)

I guess now I'll try a card of some kind in my desktop and just live with it.

Based on this fact alone I'd NEVER buy a DVB Worldbox. Just my humble opinion. Your mileage may vary. Objects in mirror may be closer than they appear. Do not try this at home. :)

Uh... you were using a usb 2 port right?!? It isn't backwards compatible with usb1. I had to install a usb 2 pci card on my computer to make it work - got one off ebay for about 10 bucks.

Also, did you ever install ts reader? It's driver screws the heck out of the other driver. Supposedly some can flip flop between the drivers easily... when I tried it it messed things up big time until I manually did some registry edits to erase ts reader.

you wanna talk USB .?.?.?

... let me tell you!

I wouldn't have chimed in, but let's blame the proper trouble-maker, here.
USB support just sux in general!
If you want to hook up a printer or a camera, it may fly, but beyond that, best of luck.

I spent way too much time , money, time, blood, time, sweat, time, and tears, (did I mention time?) trying to get my StarBox USB to work reliably.
I've even spent days debugging USB printers which had worked before...

USB problems start right at the driver level.
They most certainly continue through the OS.
Then, I think the application developers never properly understood nor tested their device using USB!

Here are my (draconian) guidelines for fixing USB problems...
1). reformat your C: drive and install Windows XP SP2, and all updates!
2). install the latest driver for your USB host port.
3). if USB still doesn't work, get a host-port card with an NEC USB chip and install it (repeat from step 1).
- don't talk to me about add-on cards with VIA chips - even if they may work on your motherboard -
4). if still no satisfaction, repeat from step 3 with a different card.
5). if all else fails , change the application program.

Now , then, having said all those negative things about the StarBox and USB, let me say a few things.
It has at times worked fine through a USB 1.1 port and a PCMCIA USB 2.0 port (on a laptop), and both motherboard nVidia chipset and plug-in NEC card on a desktop (at USB 2.0)

I also use USB 2.0 to extract video from a hard drive removed from my PVR.
I put up with -buggy-, because the alternative if failure.
...and I blame the applications developer.
...because I've tried the above steps on four computers.

So, blame your USB box, if you like.
I'll not defend it.
But save a little blame for the USB port it's hooked through.
That may be what's holding you back.
... that and your unwillingness to follow my guide lines above..

I must be leading a charmed life then because I have a camera, Creative Zen mp3 player, flatbed scanner, printer, programming cable for my Motorola Phone all installed now and when I plug one in it works, all the time. Now, I don't have all of this plugged in all the time, but when I do plug it in it works.

The Worldbox was the first USB device I ever used that would not stay installed. All I used was the software that came with it, nothing else. I am NOT saying it wasn't me, but maybe the WorldBox just doesn't like HP computers...:)

I think a Twinhan 1027 is coming next, as soon as I get the dough.:up

Maybe not.
I bought a 102g for the exact same reason.

Were you using HP? I have an HP laptop and desktop!

Wonder what HP could be using that affects the Worldbox? Could it be AMD architcture? Both of mine are AMD Athlon 64's. AMD motherboards? Humm...peculiar.
