Not sure what you are asking here, are you stuck on one codec and can't change it? You can edit your guids.ini file to get rid of a particular codec in Dvbdream. You've changed your audio renderer from one screen to the other, have you tried directsound device?

I found that when I scanned in those PBS and RTN channels TransEdit didn't supply the audio PID data (check in channel editor) hence no audio.
In the case of the PBS channels adding 3 to the Video PID usually works.

From what you have said I'm not sure if you have any audio on other channels if you have a codec problem the above won't help

Sorry I got mixed up with DVB viewer:rolleyes:

With DVB dream I have more audio codecs installed and showing there are a few free codec packs you can download and try.

Starman345-

In first screen shot you can see that Elcard is selected as the audio codec I want to use. The software should apply this codec and it does not. It selects Microsoft MPEG-1/DD and that does not work.

I looked in the guids.ini and could not find the microsoft mpeg-1/dd codec or I would have removed it. That codec seems to be keeping me from hearing any audio.

For some unknown reason the Elcard codec will appear in the software and start producing audio.

I'm running Vista on two machines one has intel Pentium and other has AMD. Problem is not specific to one machine.

Also when I right click on any of the devices listed in the right side screen A window particular to that device pops up with information about that device. When I right click on Microsoft mpeg-1/dd it turns blue and no information is displayed.

FYI running DD_V_14i

This system codec may be defaulted to by Vista when no other codec can do, or the encoded file audio format is not recognized or mis-recognized by the system. May be Elecard codec version you have installed wasn't developed for Vista and need an update?

This codec has no AC3 capability outside of MS apps.

Can you manually edit decoding graph created by DVB Dream to replace the codec?

Or try to find and rename file msmpeg2adec.dll (Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder). May affect WMP work though.

DVBDream author recommends Intervideo audio codec. Also try update DVBDream version to V1.5 Beta 7, and delete the above codec from codecs.ini in DVBDream B7 application folder.

I'm not familiar with Graphedit and do not know how to open the current graph in DVBDream.

I'll try to find that MS download utility for viewing what codecs are installed, I don't remember the name. Do you know?

Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder

Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder is not found by the MS codec check up utility.

If you can't edit the graph created by DVBDream and can't find the MS codec on your PC, there are a couple of other options:

- install the latest Microsoft MPEG-1/DD Audio Decoder - it will override the former if any. I think, DVBDream can't change the graph because it can't find that codec in your system, so the graph gets broken;
- Also, find a folder or file where DVBDream stores its internally created Graphs description - clean it up. If you can't find one, DVBDream forum may help, but they seldom answer to posts. There are other known PC Sat Tuner forums found on the web, where such posts are answered. ;)

AND / OR

- uninstall DVBDream, delete all its Prefs files and folders from everywhere you can find, cleanup the Registry using known cleanup tools, restart the PC and install the latest DVBDream Beta.

See if it'll fix the issue. You can always edit DVBDream's codecs.ini file later to prevent it using the newly installed MS codec, but it may work just fine via DVBDream UI after the cleanup and reinstall.

I wonder if you were able to fix the issue? It's always better to close the thread with resolution, this way it will help many down the road.

The solution can be as simple as deleting a broken .grf file from the viewer package's Graphs folder, or manually editing the viewer's Preferences file, where required parameters change is usually easy to find on the web or figure out.

This MS MVP developed a DirectShow Filter Graph Spy utility that allows to see hidden DirectShow Graphs created by most packages used for audio and video playback on PCs, including those not offering own Graph viewing & editing options.
