I've been trying to find a DVB program that can handle my switches and LNB(F)s. There isn't a one that comes close to MyTheatre. But I'm really trying to make a go with DD. But one thing has me stumped. How do you get Ku and CBand off the same satellite? It won't do a C/Ku dual LOF, even though you can input the LOF that way it will only scan CBand. The Ku transponders on the list won't even show in the scan screen. Normally one would write a CBand list and a Ku Band List. But the two lists have the same file name and won't coexist in the transponder folder. I must be missing something real simple here. I can't believe it to be this difficult or impossible.

Well I've got this up and running for the most part :) The new TBS8922 PCI card is performing well. The BlindScan software that comes with it works way better than I hoped for. DVBDream doesn't seem to handle 4:2:2 though. Anybody get it with DD?If so, What Codecs used? Right now I'm having issues with stability, seems to crash too easy. There are a few settings yet to explore, so hopefully I can get this dialed in to my satifaction. I'm using DiSEqC 1.2 via RAW commands and it is working good. I have most of the active positions scanned in and playing with the channel tools now.

I used to use DVBDream with the Elecard codecs for 4:2:2 . Haven't used it in a couple years , though. For me, when I need 4:2:2 I have Tsreader/VLC set up and ready to go. Otherwise I've never been comfortable trying to use a PCI solution full time. Too kludgey, and I'm something of a PC guru ! :) HA !

I also use Elecard but I generally I have more success with FFDShow. I have a bunch of different codecs. If the picture or sound is not quite right, I keep swapping until something works. I watch 4:2:2 directly with DVDDream using a TBS card. I use a TBS6980 and just installed a TBS6922 and I am also very pleased with the blindscan. I like that it is a separate program with a .ini file output. I do not know about dual C and Ku dish, but if the two signal are on separate inputs of a diseqc, it will certainly work. Even if the two signals came down the same coax, it should still work if you set up two separate satellite tabs. Set one up as a ku dish and the other as a C dish using lnb settings that would be normal if they were on separate dishes.

easiest thing is ffdshow or stream it to vlc... elecard was the best b4 ffdshow... if i remember correctly u had to switch from elecard to nero & other codecs for different stations that have 422

I have more codecs than you can shake a stick at, But getting them loaded in DD hmmmm I know I read somewhere about doing that.
Dang program is very unstable though. Trying to figure that out too. Crashes on channel changes and weaker S2 signals a lot.

I use version 1.4I and 1.5b7. I just noticed today that 1.5b7 scans faster than the earlier version. Both are free versions. They are very stable if you are using the correct codec. Put the wrong codec in and it can even shut your computer off or give you the blue screen.
It is been more than a year since I set it all up so I do not remember the proceedure, but I suspect the codecs are all in the same directory somewhere. Once the codecs are installed, click the "Options" tab, then "video" tab and you should be able to see them all at the same time and choose the one you want. If you use FFDShow for both "video Codec" and "H.264 Codec" and AC3Filter for "audio Codec" and "AC3 Codec" then you should be good to go.

guacharaca those suggestions are good for u, every computer will be different based on installed programs & hardware used... Magic Static i would try those codecs first they are a kind of "works all" solution... if u were still crashing in DD, vlc streaming is a viable alternative which dosent use codecs in DD at all & takes the strain off DD

I'm running DDver1.7a(latest) Win 7 Pro 64bit WEI 7.0 , I'll figure how to make the codecs appear in the menu so I can select them and give the FFDShow a shot.
My AJAK will appreciate getting a handle on the stability for sure.

if i remember a bit back when i used it u have to register the codecs to view them in DD... a codec managment tool will allow this... i dont remember the specifics of doing this... u may end up getting rid of all the codecs that u have in ur machine & using ones specific to what u need... loan me ur card & ill hook it up to find out what all is needed, lol... magic i would look at streaming to vlc, as its more flexible to use it than the native viewer in DD... after u open DD its in one of the buttons across the top of it (gives the option to use vlc or mpc)

OK if figured the codecs thing. They changed the file in recent versions from guids.ini to codecs.ini . Using Graphedit I was able to look at the CLSID numbers of my installed codecs and verify they are indicated in the codecs.ini . If not you can add the information to the ini. Now to find a suitable combination :)

I will give the streaming to VLC a go too. Something to check out for sure. I really wish MyTheatre supported TBS cards, of course that would be too easy.

So I'm watching with VLC and still having stability issues on DD. Almost seems like I have a Quality threshold of 70%. Below that and issues may develop. But I've watched stations at less than 50% quality. Of course the signal strenth/quality indicators I've dealt with using DVB apps are next to useless IMHO. My last card under MyTheatre would show 100%/94% on any signal I could watch and never change. The SkyWalkers would only show one meter, not sure if it was quality or signal strength.
Nvidia Codecs are weird. They show avg 45FPS on a 29.9 FPS signal, Looks real good though. Maybe I'll try limiting DD to one Core on the processor.

Update: I've been using DD for a while now. The best improvement I had came with a new driver from TBS :) Improved signal quality and stability. This setup gives me access to Blind Scan and better coverage of S2 signals. But DD is still light years behind MyTheatre in performance and ease of use. If Saar ever gets his act together and provide support for the newer devices, MT will RULE!!

Well I've developed a real dislike for DD. Very poorly thought out program for FTA use. Must be one heck of an eyepatch attraction though. My wife did something that ate the boot sectors out of my hard drives and I lost my setup. Start from square one again..
But getting to try some ideas I couldn't before. picked up .8 WEI on hard drive score to 7.6 :) But I was fooling around with MyTheatre and the TBS card and they actually work pretty good together.(BDA) There is just no DiSEqC, but there is 22khz tone by LOF SW. So I can run 5150/10750 LOF on my big C-Band dish and move it with the remote. MyTheatre auto scans S2 just like any DVB signal. No need to input FEC or 8PSK. Still missing FEC 3/5 though :( For the first time it shows S&Q on DCII transponders and trys to scan them. Only have seen that with the TBS card. It also is way more sensitive to KU band. My laser C/Ku dish wasn't showing any ku band with DD but scanning in quite a few with MyTheatre. MT is so more stable also. At this point if all I have to do is use the remote and mis 3/5 fec channels it's worth it.
