Hello, i purchased a dsr 922 off of ebay and hooked it up the problem i'm having is when you hook up the coax wire say c-band and then plug the receiver in it goes thru warm up but then restarts but if you turn the receiver on without either C or ku hooked up it goes thru warm up fine and just says no signal any ideas what could be wrong.

I may be off in left field, but I had issues with my DSR920 rebooting after it had acquired signal - but it rebooted quite frequently. What I did to "solve" the issue was to pull out the Videocipher cage. My Videocipher module was failing. I don't subscribe to any of the 2 or 3 analog services that are left, so I don't miss the Videocipher module.

Anyways - if nobody has any better ideas, pulling the videocipher cage out might worth a shot... ? Maybe the videocipher cage is pulling down the voltage, and it isn't leaving enough power to power the LNB?

Nothing to lose worth trying. (Be darn sure that the receiver is unplugged from it's power source before pulling the cage).

Yeah tried the receiver without the module does the same thing as soon as i plug the c-band coax wire in goes thru warm up then restarts over and over i saw on the internet when i was looking for the solution that if the receiver goes thru warm up normally without the coax wires that there's either a short in the wire or the lnb's are bad, but my wire is fairly new used it for about a year then quit using it because my uncle borrowed my 922 so my dish has sat for about 4 years so i guess it could be the lnb's.

Dsr restarting.

Check the LNB it could be bad.

Checked the lnb turns out thats what it was luckily a had a spare of the exact same one but don't have a spare of the ku-band though looks like i'll have to get another one because as soon as i hook it up it does the same as the bad c-band lnb.

It sounds like a short circuit. Does it reboot with the LNB disconnected?

You could test the cable continuity with the LNB and receiver disconnected. Check the connectors for a stray piece of conductor.

I had purchased a new 922 in Sept. 2007. I noticed right away it ran really warm and rebooted very now and then. At that time, a relay clicked inside. In Nov. 2007 it failed totally, I came home to find it dead. Three months later I got the replacement that has worked perfectly since day one.
