Does DirecTV have an "answer" to the Hopper?

Love how misleading the new Dish Hopper commercials are. Record up to 6 programs.....how come they never mention there is an exact time of day when these can be recorded. They make it sound like you can do it anytime but that's no where close to the truth.

And that is where customers are going to call Dish customer service and complain because they thought they could record six programs at any time of the day.

Yea, I was a bit taken back, after reading the full specs and seeing how things work, how "different" thing were to the way i perceived them. I kinda thought it was like the HR34 in that those recording streams were behind the scenes and were available all the time, like the HR34, where you view 2 tuners but 3 other things can be recording in the background. I didn't realize how limited those "six" are.

Then i thought about the overall tuners. As I'm typing this, my wife is in the bedroom watching one thing(1 tuner), my daughter is in the living room watcher her show(1 tuner) and I am downstairs doing Picture in Picture flipping between a game and a show on my HR34(2 tuners). So I'd be SOL with the Hopper/Joey already.

because you can ignore the inane commercials and "cut to the chase" :D ...
By then I would have to wait until the next day to watch the game. I don't want to wait to see what happens, and I would already know the score so there would be no point in watching it.

I record lots of stuff and watch them later. I work 3-11PM so when I get home at 11:30 I can zip through stuff at night :)

In reality, you can record ONLY 3 programs simultaneously at any time on any channels. Out of the "6" they claim, 4 of them are ONLY, ABC, NBC, CBS & FOX, ONLY during 3 hour prime time and ONLY if they are in HD. Simply, FALSE ADVERTISING.

No, during those hours they can record 6, with another hopper even more....

The disclaimer is in small print, hard to see and is shown for a few seconds in the commercial. And many people can't see it, don't read it or don't understand it.

These are exactly the "6" programs Dish was advertising, 4 Prime time + 2 other=6. No one was talking about 2 Hoppers, the comparison was one Hopper and one HR34.
