My dish 500 and replace the LNB's with 1000.2's and the adapter arm???? Or is there a specific reason why I would need to replace the dish as well?

Hello everyone, New member here trying to get into the HDTV side of things..

Thanks!!!

You need the Dish. A dish 500 is designed to pick up 2 sats. you need one for 3. Dishstore, a site sponsor, has a Dish 1000.2 with the LNB for a reasonable pice if you are a DIY-er. Or a second Dish 500 can be pointed at 129. A Dish 500 DPP Dual has a port for an additional LNB, so rewiring is minimal in that case.

Alternatively, a second dish 500 pointed at 61.5 will work.

If you are in an Eastern Arc city, as Dish 1000.4 pointing at 61.5, 72.7, and 77 will also work, provided your receivers are VIP series and you have the new smartcards.

Much depends on where your HD locals are (if you have them). If they are on 129, option one is needed. If they are on 119 or 110, option one or two will work. If they are on 61.5, option tow or three will work. If they are on 77, option three is you best bet.

(Different story if you have a Dish 500+ to receive 118.7)
