Hi,
I finally decided to upgrade to HD service (from my old Hughes Directivo) and now am the proud non-"owner" of an HR24. Anyway, I get the distant networks from NYC, as I have no locals and have had waivers for a long time.
When I called to get the HD upgrade, I was told I would receive those distant networks in HD. Well, I still get them in SD.
I called to ask what happened, and after a long run around, was finally told that the "FCC does not allow us to broadcast those networks to you in HD". I asked if I could get another waiver and was told the same thing again. My interpretation of her somewhat vague response is that the FCC has not yet allowed Directv to broadcast the NYC network HD stations to subscribers outside of the NYC local area, even if they have waivers for the distant networks. Annoyingly, when I posed the question to her that way, she again repeated the sentence as above. But CSR is another issue.
So is it true? Is it not possible to get distant network service in HD? If it is possible, what do I need to do to make it happen?
