I haven't seen any updates for DishOnline. It seems like this service was mentioned awhile ago when the ethernet ports on the 622 and 722 would be active. I'm looking at the Direct TV on demand beta pics and it looks like a good service. I'm hoping DishOnline will over the same experience. Anyone have any news?

What kind of speed would I need at my end to get a reasonably stable stream when they do finally enable IPTV? I currently have a 768k DSL connection... not quite going to do it I would imagine?

You may not be watching in realtime, but that doesn't mean that you can't benefit from the IPTV service. :)

I have no idea what the bitrates would be though. They would have to be somewhat reasonable because there are many people with service around 3mbit downstream and not so many with higher than that.

In all seriousness if this brought Howard Stern VoD (and other Cable-only VoD content) to Dish Network, I could see that making matters competitive. I don't have interest in Howard VoD, but I do listen to the radio show on Sirius.

they may change the name to Dish IPTV

I hope not. I like Dish Online much better. Everyone knows what Online means. Not sure the average person knows what IPTV means. To everyone in these parts, it stands for Iowa Public Television (they tried to trademark IPTV, but they were too late).

E* reps were telling people at Cedia target date was October 15th.

..grain of salt of course...
