DishDVR Advantage

I sent an Email via customer support, web master for dish.

The emailed back saying you cant sign up for Dish DVR Advantage online.

I emailed them back saying why do you have a banner ad at the top saying click here sign up new and all the web pages after that saying agree and enter your c card?

I wonder if Marketing and the Web master ever talk o rmaybe someone missed a meeting?

I sined up for the DVR Avantage pkg plast night on their website. it took me all the way to the part where you agree to the terms and said it was comfirmed. Just wished i had some paper for my printer. It gave an option to print the change. I'll give it a couple of days for it to show up on my account before i call CS.

66mustang...

you need.... PRIMO PDF...!

Google it :)

it allows you to print to a fake printer, that saves the file to a pdf file on your hard drive. Good stuff for windows users. There's other alternatives too, but this is what I use for those occasions. :)

I only hope that you can get it for the proper price

Good luck.:)

Apparently its never going to happen - latest reply from Ceo .. they are now telling me that i cannot only have the additional $20 for HD and the $10 upgrade to the 250 ... I also have to take one other premium ....

as i understand it ..

you can either do the 49.99 plan
and then add two premiums for $20 (or $22)
and then a third premium for an additional $10

or you can do the $49.99 plan
and then add $20 for HD
and then one extra premium for an additional $10 ...

am i reading this wrong or does the ceo address even have this wrong ?

I give up - in fact i may well simply downgrade to save myself a few extra $$'s.

This - quite frankly - is pathetic.

Nobody has the slightest idea what the offer is/should be, and i couldn't care less myself any longer.

Shame.

Pete,

If you use the DVR Advantage with the Top250, you also need to subscribe to a premium movie package. It would be $10 more than you have.

Thanks,

Eric VanLaethem

Count me another that has run into DISH's customer service woes.

Called Saturday to get the new promotion, and spent 40 minutes with a rude CSR trying to get the DVR advantage. At the end of the call, all I knew is that I had an appointment for someone to come and swap receivers - she claimed that adding adding HD to my AEP package was only $1 more. At this point I couldn't go on and figured I would straighten it out later.

Monday afternoon email ceo@dishnetwork.com and a couple of hours later got a voicemail with a direct number in Denver. Nice! Unfortunately she was is off until Friday.

Foolishly I tried customer service again, armed with MikeD-C05's breakdown. I think I finally got to the point of DVR Advantage, no commitment with autopay, and DVR Advantage ($49.99) + HD ($20) + AT250 ($10) + 622 Lease + Extra Receiver. It still wasn't clear if the system was counting the HD pack as a premium upgrade to allow the AT250 without a movie package, as then the system gave an error because of the scheduled upgrade. Argh.

I guess I will wait and try the direct number on Friday. This is ridiculous. But at least the second rep wasn't rude. I ordered a 211 from dishstore to complete the uprade, and I shudder to think what is going to happen when I activate that.

I looked at the new pricing info that Scott posted and I don't see the HD package counting as a AT250 enabler... can anyone point me to a reference?

Thanks to all that have posted information and experiences on trying to run the CSR gauntlet. I was at least prepared for disappointment.

If you go to the website ..

http://www.dishnetwork.com/content/whats_on_dish/programming_packages/dvr_advantage/packages.aspx#

then click on the "additional premium services available click here for the complete pricing guide"

It looks to me as though there are two different DVR Advantage promotions

Either Plan 1.

(Premiums plan)
49.99 basic plan
+ ($20 or $22 for two premiums)
then add one other premium for $10

Or Plan 2.

(HD Plan)
49.99 Basic plan
+ ($20 for HD)
you can then add one premium (or 250 upgrade) for $10

This is certainly how it reads.

Have been communicating with the Ceo address at the same time time as posting here - seems like I may be correct ... Eric is going to get back to me after he checks the details ... will update the thread as and when i hear anything.

:)

jokeworm - thanks! That's exactly what I was looking for. I think I recall someone else had posted that but couldn't find it on the (frequently flakey) dish site to use as a reference. It seems that the problem is that the "Then, add any of the following for an additional" in the "Add DishHD" section is not optional when they try it.

This is really poor performance on Dish's part.

Now if only we could strip out the locals.

Finally !

well - after 13 emails ... 5 different CSR's and approx 2-3 hours of my time ...

==================

The website is correct. You are able to get the Top250 and DISH HD for $30.00 more on the DVR Advantage promotion.

==================

:D

Damn this is HARD WORK.

jokeworm,

Thanks for your efforts.

I'm going to wait until I speak with the Denver office and get this cleared up.

Good news: "ceo" email gets a quick response
Bad news: you need to use it for trivial things that should take five minutes on the website.

And what's up with this mandatory install nonsense? Since they insisted, on my second call I asked them to verify the Dishes are grounded as per NEC code (sticking them on a vent pipe does not count).

It is if you did not know about this site

Just to add.. you can and premiums for 10 each also except HBO 12.00

I don't think i DARE throw something else into the mix. Who knows how many more hours that would take. It actually frightens me to think how much money could be saved by actually training the staff properly in the first place.

Every single time i call Dish Network it takes me at least 3 or 4 calls to get something done ... when you get the right person - its done in a matter of seconds ... but why pay 3/4 of the CSR's to do nothing but give out the wrong information or make it up as they go along - if they don't know the answer they should say "I don't know - let me check" Not make up a number and divide it by three and take away the number they first thought of and then quote you that price.

They do have some great CSR's .. but they do have some total waste-of-space CSR's too ... maybe the interview needs to be a little more taxing.

"can you read this script" seems to be the only way some of the CSR's I have dealt with recently could have possibly have gotten the job.

:tongue firmly in cheek:

This is not rocket science ... i want to order a few tv channels - not solve one of life's great mysteries ... it should not be this difficult .. should it ?

That is correct you can add the dvr advantage pack for 49.99 add the hd pack for 20.00 and then add bonus pack to top 250 for 10.00 more and then add more premiums for 10.00 each on top of it. This is straight off their website under additional information under the dvr advantage plan. Eric said as much except he didn't say you could add more than one premium movie pack. Their website says under addtional information when you click on it, that each movie pack on top of the hd and bonus pack is 10.00 each. You do not have to add ANY premium channels if you use the hd pack then add your bonus pack to the top 250. I had this and it was no problem.

I am sorry that they can't get it straight. Maybe if you talk to a tech and try to get it straight with them. It would of been easier if Dish had just gave you a $3.98 discount for the dvr advantage plan. They did a poor job on their website explaining all of this and even poorer job explaining to their csrs too.

I am glad you finally got it all straightened out. So what I said was right. It is sad that even the ceo office didn't understand their own plans for dvr advantage. All this work to save $3.98 .

I threw in the towel. After calling once again to confirm MR got another answer. After that I called back and asked what my charges would be simply to return to AEP plus HD. Was told 120.99. (94.99 for AEP, 6 for leased rvcr fee, 20 for HD). Then called billing back after the changes and another rep confirmed exactly the same price (miracle!!).

I'll stick with this until all the creases get ironed out. Might even keep it if Cinemax HD becomes a reality.

I think once I see confirmation that my billing is indeed straightened out I'll request some form of adjustment to compensate the big stinking headache I've had since 2/1.

Ok got a clear answer now, and I think many people will be happy, you get the AT250 free with the DVR Advantage for $49.99 if you sign up for either Credit Card Auto Pay or an 18 month contract.

Without Credit Card Auto Pay, or an 18 month contract you only get the AT200 for the $49.99 with the option to upgrade to the AT250 for the additional $10.00.

Hope that clears everything up, and this was confirmed to me and explained more clearly by the 2 different rep's at the Executive Office.

David

Certainly not how it reads on the website or even how they finally presented it to me. The Auto-pay or commitment is a basic rule to qualify.

The $49.99 gets you top 200 .. you then have to get $20 HD in order to be able to upgrade to $10 (250) ... or you have to pay an extra $20 on top of the 49.99 for 250 + one other premium.

:)

If you get it the way you wrote - you are getting a bargain ... jump on it.
I'm happy with getting just what i expected to get finally :)

YIKES!!!! Maybe Scott can get one of his contacts to clear things up... After reading all the different prices people have been quoted I think for the time being I am going to stick with AT250+my locals... I talked to three different CSR's today and got quoted everything from $77.86 to as low as $69.99 including my choice of one of the four prieium channels... CC

Literally 5 minutes ago Dish had the DishDVR Advantage package information on their website under "Add Programming." Now it shows "Thank you for your interest in our DishDVR Advantage Package. To learn more please contact one of our sales representatives at 1-800-333-DISH."

Basically it said $49.99 for Top200 + DVR Fee on first receiver, $20.00 for HD, $10.00 for every additional premium, and $10.00 for Top250 upgrade.

How does Dish usually deal with recalcitrant locals?
