Okay, lets start counting...I am customer number 1I don't know how many customers would opt out of getting locals altogether if they could save $10 per month...

When I can remove the locals from Welcome Pack, I will believe that.Folks while not a definite thing I heard at CES they are looking at making it so you can remove locals from your package if you don't want them.
To be more specific, it's an "agreement"* and has no timeframe. The 2-year part is covered under a different agreement.
* Not sure if legally there's a difference in 'contract' and 'agreement'
Folks while not a definite thing I heard at CES they are looking at making it so you can remove locals from your package if you don't want them. This is part of the reason why starting this month you will see locals as a separate charge on your bill.
I may know where you're going with this. First off, the FCC doesn't pay local stations to broadcast, in fact, they (the FCC) charges a license fee for the frequencies they use from public airwaves.Does the government (FCC) pay these local channel companies a lot of money to provide TV to the people?
Why would you think the government pays local channel owners? If that was the case we wouldn't have to watch 20 minutes of commercials for every hour of programming.Scott you would know this answer. Does the government (FCC) pay these local channel companies a lot of money to provide TV to the people?
If I get bored, I may look for the wording, but effectively it reads something along the lines of "if you continue to pay for our service and watch, you agree with our terms".Do you have a CONTRACT or AGREEMENT if you have NOT signed anything???
Heck, Dish doesn't care if you watch, just as long as you pay.If I get bored, I may look for the wording, but effectively it reads something along the lines of "if you continue to pay for our service and watch, you agree with our terms".

True, and technically, if you don't pay, that violates a different part of the agreement that allows them to end your service. As I just posted above, if you accept "receipt" of their service, you remain bound by the terms and conditions of the agreement. Makes no difference if you signed it or not. Will it hold up in court ? No idea.... Others are free to hire a lawyer and test it though !!Heck, Dish doesn't care if you watch, just as long as you pay.![]()
I couldn't resist
