They all say that, but I am convinced in some districts, Judges want the cases to support local economy

Except there were no demands. There was no negotiation of any kind with AMC. Charlie simply decided to drop them at the end of the contract, well before the contract was up.I don't want to see AMC back. I hope Dish makes a stand here, as I think it will temper future demands from other providers.
Now was that really called for, No. But it was kinda funny anyway.Well, since the Godfather put a horses head in somebodies bed, I guess that leaves Charlie a horses ass!
Kind of fitting, if you ask me... lol
Ok it's been awhile I remember when we use to have Voom so someone do a refresher Dish bought them out then at some point pulled the plug on them. I guess Voom thinks they still should be on the air or they feel like they were not treated right or something.. Just don't remember what the fuss was all about.. I will have to read through the pdf when I get time..
Actually a good poker move. E gets to see what card Voom has and how the court plays this before they decided to say eat it or make a deal.[h=1]Voom-EchoStar Trial Delayed Until Monday[/h]By: Jon Lafayette (Broadcasting & Cable) 2012-09-20 12:48:00

The trial between Charlie Ergen's EchoStar and the Dolan family's shuttered Voom HD service was postponed till Monday.
The court did not have enough potential jurors to begin the section process, according to analyst Thomas Claps, of Susquehanna Financial Group.
Claps says that at the end of the court session, Judge Richard Lowe III "encouraged the parties to engage in discussions" aimed at settling the matter.
Voom, which was part of Rainbow Media, the predecessor company to AMC Networks, sued EchoStar for $2.4 billion charging that the satellite distributor breached a 15 year contract to carry the suite of HD channel.
Yesterday, Judge Lowe, made several rulings that seemed to go in Voom's favor.
A settlement could include restored carriage for AMC Networks cable channels, which have been blacked out on Dish Network since July. AMC Networks claims that ts channels were pulled by Dish to give it leverage in talks to settle the suit.

I would like to see them back after they go down for the count.I don't want to see AMC back. I hope Dish makes a stand here, as I think it will temper future demands from other providers.
You may be quite right. Certainly, even with ESPN not what it used to be in some minds, it's almost a necessity. Unless Charlie Ergen wants to be a nearly sports free satco. Lower cost approach, that. Unless too many subs are lost.It does seem Charles is on that path to remove providers when he does not like them. The day he removes ESPN, is the day I call him a serious gamer. He actually backed down in the TiVo v. Dish case, IMHO. My speculation was at the time Hopper was in final stage and needed help from the TiVo DVR trick, so he settled.
I see you're playing the role of Howard Cosell today.Let's see if Dish has the guts to challenge Fox News, USA, TNT and ESPN.

Anyway, does anyone feel a settlement will be negotiated over the weekend? Judge Lowe did "encouraged the parties to engage in discussions" aimed at settling the matter.neinacrowd:
Well, there are reports that they would not sell AMC alone. That's a demand. And one I think most of us would like see destroyed, as a general policy.Except there were no demands. There was no negotiation of any kind with AMC. Charlie simply decided to drop them at the end of the contract, well before the contract was up.
I do agree that bundling unpopular channels with popular ones is something almost everybody, other than the content owners themselves, would like to see ended.Well, there are reports that they would not sell AMC alone. That's a demand. And one I think most of us would like see destroyed, as a general policy.
Yeah, right for sure that will happen. NOTcharlie should just go ahead and settle and give us amc back. when it comes back bring ifc hd along with it.
Just look at how long the Tivo case took and how much money Charlie had to keep paying Tivo in damages over that period ,before finally licensing the software.
TheKrell said:This is a sore point with me, because I remember how silky smooth trick play was on my 501 before Dish took out the Tivo IP. Now, how many years and $500M later, including finally licensing the software... Is there any Dish receiver that has smooth and accurate trick play again? I don't see it on my 612, nor my 722. I see very tricky backward skipping on both. Sometimes it does nothing, or returns all the way to the beginning of a recording! Frankly I think Dish spent that $500M to make the lawsuit go away, but did nothing to re-incorporate Tivo IP.
Who knows maybe at CES they will announce that all the channels are back. Amc, and even the Disney HD channels.
But I am expecting a big price increases once dish had a 2 year freeze on package price increases.
