Has there been any word on a "backlit" Dish remote? I really miss the lighted "Seahawks" DTV remote i had. I thought it was the best! I watch TV a lot at nite and the standard remotes are really inconvenient in the dark..... Seems like I'm constantly turning a light (or flashlight) on.

I know Logitech (among others) build some good ones, but I still prefer the OEM type remotes. I can't understand why there hasn't been more interest in such a device.

With all the lighted remotes on the market, it surely can't be that difficult to build!

Don't expect one from Dish. I have seen little or no back-lit OEM remotes for the last few years. Seems to be feature found only in universal remotes these days. Wear a mini-flashlight around your neck. ;)

I never thought a lighted remote was a big deal, until I got a Harmony. It does make a difference if you watch in a dark room. That said, when I used the Dish remote exclusively I did get to know the buttons without looking in most cases. The 21.0 remote to me is well laid out. (Similar to other Dish remotes)

After a while you shouldn't need a light since you should have the button memorized. The Dish remote has remained pretty much unchanged for years so it's easy for me to remember the layout. I'm pretty sure that when I do need to look at my remote the brightness from my TV is enough for me to see it.

i agree and love my harmony even though the dish remote is laid out very well. i had a back-lit remote from directv for the bedroom and wouldn't mind if dish made one.

21.0 and Hopper (40.0) remote are virtually identical except for the color and (obviously) the radio.

I agree. Some people (particularly those coming from DirecTV/cable) complain about the Dish remote's volume location and the lack of a dedicated ch up/ch down but I think it simplifies the remote a great deal.

i don't understand that because for the 5-6 years i was with directv i was never really able to memorize where the keys were. it's not laid out very good yet i pretty much memorized dish's remote in just hours. especially the volume buttons.
