Dish Remote 21.0 Question

Hello,

Can anyone tell me for sure if the Dish Remote 21.0 will work with the following receivers?

I have a 508 and my sister has the 625 and I want to get the 21.0 remotes for them.

I am going to upgrade receivers some day to go with my LCD TV, but can't right now. But I need a new remote. Would love to have the 21.0 remote so it will work better with my TV and can learn some other devices.

I have asked Dish and keep getting different answers. Some times Yes, Some times No.

The 21.0 will work with 625. 508 needs 6.4.

Thanks for the info, guess I need to come up with cash and get a 722k to replace the 508. Really wanted the 21.0 remote.

my sister will be happy that she can use the 21.0 with her 625

I want to replace both remotes, do I need 2 of the 21.0 remotes or 1 of the 21.0 and 1 of the 20.0

You can go one of each or two 21.0 (which can be used as IR or UHF).

If they're the same price get two 21.0s. They can be used for TV1 or TV2 and they're UHF and/or IR. Look on ebay. I picked up a 21.0 for $17 shipped a couple weeks ago.

They'll both come with the TV2 plastic "chip" showing. To make one a TV1 remote you need to flip the "chip" (heh, I'm a poet!) over so the "1" is showing. Do that when you have the battery cover off. To sync the remotes to the receiver: Press the SYS INFO button on the receiver, then press RECORD button on remote. You may need to reset your remote addresses as well. Yer welcome!

Right! It comes set to UHF. If you want it to be IR you'd have to slide the switch over. Dunno why you would though?

No. Old Corps was mistaken. He was thinking about the old 6.3 remotes which did use the tabs to switch. That does NOT apply to the 21.0. Use the switch in the battery compartment. If both are using RF, you need to change the address on one of them, to keep them independent of each other. The TABS on the 21.0 are strictly to identify to YOU which TV/Remote is which. Just think of them as labels. That's been explained twice, now.

Thanks for the clarification KAB. I flipped the tabs and used them as TV1 RF remotes (on 2 different receivers, 622 & 722). I did know about the switch but never had to change it since they came set to UHF anyway. I did NOT realize that the tabs did nothing other than identify the remote for the user. Had to set addresses for both of course.
