There is no September 31st ......
Well, that's a point. Maybe if we would just give back the right to use a DVR......
They said on the retailer chat that they could not talk about the ongoing negotiations.
The Networks are making money off of programming that was on the air decades ago, money they probably never dreamed they would be able to make, thanks to the inventions of DVDs and online streaming. They use Hulu, Netflix, Amazon, and DVD sales to make money on programming. They even have advertising inserted into syndicated programming!I seem to remember the VCR caused all kinds of havoc early on with the movie industry worried it would kill all their profits. They eventually figured out how to monetize it and the business model changed. The networks have to come up with a similar way to evolve as DVR/Autohop is here and out of Pandora's box. I'm sure they will think of something, I just hope however they evolve comes before we lose more channels.
I do have this "criticism" or sorts though. The customer here is caught in the middle. We are not doing anything except paying our bills. We pay our Dish bill and we get this constant tease of channel logos being switched on and off. Like we are in the middle of negotiations also. We want what we pay for.
I would not like to pay more for my subscription, but then I get an email saying that leased equipment will be taxed more. So, there is an increase.
And we cannot get Disney back in HD, or ESPNu in HD, etc? And leased equipment will cost more?
The customer, although at least I think Charlie is doing what he says and watching out for his customers, is caught in the middle in all of this. And in a way, we are being played with.
